Previous Clan/Community affiliations: Lotus
Real First Name: Steve
Age: 20

Which DARKLY TF2 servers do you play on: I server hop frequently every 2-4 hours between 1-5
Why do you want to be a DARKLY TF2 Admin: I have numerous hours of experience of being an administrator on various games and gaming networks. I want to help players, specifically in-game, with any problems that may occur and to simply keep the server a fun place for new and returning players. I take pride in the work I have accomplished in administering other game servers and would definitely like to help out with DARKLY's Team Fortress 2 Trade servers by enforcing the set rules. I have come across previous DARKLY moderators/administrators on different Team Fortress 2 Trading servers that seem to disregard many rules (such as mic spamming, chat spamming, and taking advantage of game modification files) which then upsets the current online players. I understand that becoming a moderator/administrator entitles many privileges/responsibilities and I am one to adhere to them. I can also help with projects outside of the DARKLY servers as I go to college for Programming, 3D Modeling & Animations, and Video Game Design.

Edit (2/21/2014 6:39 PM): Noticing MANY staff members (Mods and Admins) clustering on Toronto TF2 Trade/Idle #2. Other servers seem to get barely, if not any, staff on them. When I asked different staff members to server hop and simply moderate the place they either denied or replied with a snobby remark.

YES/NO Questions:

Do you have a minimum of 1 month on the server with at least 60 hours of play? Yes
Do you have a mic? Yes.
Are you in good standing with the community? Yes.
Are you at least 18 years of age? Yes.
Yes I have also noticed the clustering of admins on #2,which is one of the main reasons I applied for mod/admin.Hope that issue is resolved.I know Happy is trying to get on other servers.Personally I do not like 2 that much.

I have been an administrator on various Minecraft servers (ranging from 30-100 players), a Counter-Strike: Source server, a Team Fortress Classic Server, a Half-Life server, and am currently the most active administrator on a continuing Minecraft server and it's respective Enjin website. I have been a moderator for about 4 years on RuneScape before quitting the game. I am also the head administrator at my college's open source digital project (a work in progress MMORPG) that has been going on for about 6 months now.
What is your college and what game are they working on? (My apologies if I am nosy,I am curious :3)

I go to a community college called Bucks County Community College. Me and a group of friends have been working on an open source digital project which is basically us making an MMORPG from scratch...it has a RuneScape feel but better graphics. What's cool about it is that our college hosts it for us for free with permission from the Department of Computer Sciences.

Nice! Any chance I could beta test it when you guys are ready for an outside opinion? I have a bit of talent in 3D modeling, although not much.

You should advertise it on YouTube. I have a lot of talent in video editing,so if you create a channel, I'll help out!

I don't think we're looking to make it a huge MMORPG...just something that we can add our own content to and mess around with people from the campus. If it looks good by the end of the semester then it will get added to the official games list of the Digital Gaming Organization we have here. Honestly, I've put a shit-ton of time into making sure that all of the interfaces are user friendly, checking for bugs, syntax errors, logic errors, blah blah blah...but am starting to get a little bored with it. It's a cool concept for our campus to have a game like that but me and some other developers don't really see eye-to-eye as much as we used to...probably because most of them are hardcore MMORPG and fantasy junkies and I'm a fan of FPS's and zombie survival games. Some of us might split off of the original team to create our own unique type of game but we'll see what happens at the end of this semester. It's hard to complete a major project like that when people start getting different ideas and team coordination just dwindles down...I've noticed I'm slacking a bit in development on the game; going from one of the major character and item modelers and animators to a simple in-game administrator and finding useless linear glitches like walls getting fucked up from a stupid model rig mistake. We actually had someone forget to set a walls physical settings to solid which would let you walk right through the damn thing...stupid mistake in development but it would have ruined a good aspect of leveling up to access a new area.

You have NEVER asked me to resolve anything, In fact I dont even know who you are, so I know weve never really spoken. I also always go where I am called. Actually get me, dont just look at your friends list and say welp noone one (we had someone submit a video of someone spamming and them saying noone was online, yet they showed their friends list and clearly we could see 5 of us , they just never messaged us), and I cant think of any mods that would just straight up deny a request or reply with a snobby remark.

At the time there were only two moderators on server #2 (not saying their names)...one was afk and the other was too busy spy crabbing to reply to me and when asked a third time I did in fact receive a snobby response. Since then, I have looked past that issue and me and that staff member are now on good terms. I have a decent amount of staff members on my friends list so I can contact them when needed if a situation arises that I cannot control. Although when they are all offline or not responding I will server hop if the situation is pretty bad or I will instead file a report with the proper information included. I don't think we have met before on any of the servers. If you mostly play on #2 then that might be the reason why because I tend to avoid going on it for other reasons (unless I am trading).

But to easily sum this all up I will either ask current staff to hop on the server and check the situation out, file a report, or server hop if the situation is bad.

- I seem to always been on (like 6+ hours a day, sometimes alt tabbed out doing homework, but still at comp). you can always get me and ill handle in right then (assuming im not afk). Im always happy to solve an issue. Even if im not in tf2, if im there ill join to solve it. i have no problem joining just to help.
- Yes mostly 2 and 3, I bounce around more when needed or if I have stuff to trade. If im just fuckin around im usually in 2.

Might I point out here that spycrabbing is taken quite seriously here - From the Server Rules:
T3. In Regards to Gambling / Spycrabbing
All forms of gambling, i.e. placing a wager upon a specified single or set of unoccured events, are considered financial obligations to the opposing party. Failure to meet these obligations is considered in all forms scamming and can result in a ban from DARKLY and/or a scammer tag on SteamRep. This includes Spycrab matches.
Note that there is no exception for admins - and while not implicitly stated, there is an even greater imperative on admins to lead by example in my opinion.
If you repeatedly interfered with an ongoing spycrab, it is not surprising that someone got short with you, especially after the third time.....also if the tone you took with the admin bore even the slightest resemblance to the tone used in your original app - "you literally have to be friends with the asshole mods/admins on #2"- it wouldn't surprise me if that also played a part in the nature of the response. While being able to be assertive is a good quality in an admin - combining it with thinly veiled contempt is not likely to produce the results you desire...

Stan's not one to physically interfere with events. From my conversations with him, that's just not who he is. My guess is that Stan used the chat to try and grab the attention of the Admin/Mod in question and was not successful. Can't confirm this because I wasn't there, but based on what I've observed, I'd be shocked to say the least if he did in fact interfere with the spycrab. That being said, perhaps the tone wasn't the best choice, but we are human and sometimes frustration gets the best of us and that very well could have happened.

During my time administrating a Minecraft server, I have actually been forced to be overly assertive with other staff members and even the owner to get things taken care of. It's very frustrating, but sometimes, that kick in the ass is what is needed. I'm not saying that should be the first course of action, obviously, but sometimes it is what is needed if all else fails.

I'm not discounting what you said at all, Tick. I agree completely with the sentiment, but I don't think Stan was entirely out of line in being frustrated. Does that excuse the attitude? Of course not, but we've already settled that (right?). We've addressed the chat logs and attitude and I've noticed a great improvement in his interaction with the community. Hell, even the TD guys seem to like him.

I feel confident that Stan has found the resources he needs to get situations handled in a timely manner and I don't think we'll have these incidents again.

There were no items being spy crabbed. It was called out in the chat that it was a "just for fun" spy crab. I remember someone even asking what was being spy crabbed and there were multiple responses saying that it was just for fun. And there was no implied tone. One can send a message saying "Hello!" and it can be taken in different connotations. One might assume it to be a friendly greeting and one might read it and think it was said in anger. And what I said was after the incident...by about 1 or 2 days if I remember correctly. But if you scroll up you will see in previous messages that me and that staff member are now on good terms and have put it behind us and labeled it was a "misunderstanding".
