Skype is pretty ballin, pyro is just making shit up. Your mic only picks up too much sound if you have a garbage mic with no noise-cancellation. Besides skype is really good for games where you cant spare the key press, such as in starcraft. Though i'd concede ventrilo is better for counter strike due to things like sound being a big part of the gameplay, etc.

Skype is good for stalking, it has direct-connect features instead of routing through servers like MSN and AIM. So when you want to chat up people and rape them, you get their ip and thus, an aerial shot of their home, their address, their mother's maiden name, phone numbers, SSN, all that.
I dont use mumble even though I downloaded it when I came back to CS:S, I'd be less likely to use vent. I don't want to waste hard drive space on more crap than I already have. And I have 2TB. So. Yeah.
