Open discussion- 64 tick vs 128 tick

I noticed when playing today that the server seemed to have "micro spikes" when people would first connect to the server. Nothing so brutal that it would make things unplayable, but still noticeable. I'm not complaining or anything, just trying to share what I've noticed in case it helps troubleshoot.

I'm not gonna keep repeating myself, all your suggestions are subjective. You are saying to put 128 because in YOUR opinion, it is better. But the FACT of the matter is, it's not. The devs since the the CSS days have ALWAYS said, 66 tick for larger servers, 100 for smaller servers. In GO it's 64 vs 128.
Ironically, we only ran 128 tick for the past few weeks. It wasn't running 128 all summer or any time before that. And now all I'm reading is, it was running fine at 128 all summer blah blah blah. Story of my life, it's a load of crap because it was never at 128.
Most people reg better now. Life goes on.

Cite please. With the videos in the OP, it seems clear 128 > 64.

Thanks for clarifying that the servers were 64tick.
Yes you are correct about valve's suggestions for server config but keep in mind this was suggested for source [a 10year old game 2004]
The principles remain the same but scalability should apply.
-Hardware specs have improved for both servers/PC's/network as has network speeds.

Here is a really good article detailing the networking aspects of CSGO

but seriously, i used to get shot while taking cover, fuck that. the game is finally playable for me. i got "rogers ultimate cable"connection, live 30km from the server and have an i7 build. i shouldnt be experiencing any bs with 128tic? wrong!

I also play with netgraph up and thought it was 128 since I've been playing.
Its only recently that the server has been plagued with issues, I would say since the big update with marketplace and all the gun skins, etc.

that about when we switched to 128. we believe that all the aids was caused by that. Well keep it at 64 for a bit and see what happens.

This thread is full of heresay and "Tinanaboa likes this". Ya'll need some facts. I know it's easy to say "larger tick is better" and site a bunch of articles, threads, spreadsheets that other people made - hell, I'll make you one right now that I think is true. But the fact of the matter is Valve knows their virus-software better than anyone, and what they recommend for GO is in-line with what they recommended for CS:S, and CS before that.

The only reason other 32-man servers run 128-tick is to appease threads like this. But TD has always gone the proper way, and we've always had the best reg etc.

If you're going to do some homework, do it from Valve sources, is my suggestion..

When I originally setup the CS:GO servers I did not set tickrate in command line so it used the default which is not 128.
