With BF3 on the way its time to invest in one for myself, any recommendations? Looking to spend less than $75 after shipping.

You won't get any good joysticks for the price range your looking at so if you want to stay below that limit go to your nearest best buy and buy the one below 75$ otherwise your going to have to up your budget range if you want more durable and better sensor on the joystick.

orly? from what I've been told by others you have two options, #1 shit tier joysticks that get the job done and alone give you a huge advantage against key board pilots, or #2 expensive as fuck tier joysticks used by people who want the "real feel" of flying a plane, these run you a couple hundred $$ and dont really give you that much more control compared with the cheaper options. I owned a cheap logitech about 9 years back and bought it for $60 it was more then adequate for BF games. Might have to try and find that old model or a newer version.

I've used the keyboard and mouse for years for flying and works wonders just by changing the yaw and pitch and sensitivity to the point of one little motion moves the plane quickly in one direction but takes practice and I have beaten joystick pilots too so it works but practice makes perfect.

do you want a joystick or a yolk? I tend to do a lot of flight sim because of the career path I've chosen but for like combat flight sim I bought a cyborg F.L.Y. 5 joystick at Best Buy for like 45$ and it's actually really awesome and the best joystick I've ever had. You can even customize it
