forced auto team

Some of you may not believe me but I auto assign 99% of the time (Except piranesi as that is just a shitty map.) I also select the opposite team to whatever team Peter or Ayanami is playing on when a new map is loaded. I'm sure it's no fun for guys when the top 3 players are on the same team because I find it boring when that does happen. So, I usually switch (yes I do this a lot.) or get switched which is OK by me.

i dont think anyone is suggesting the top10 are the stackers more of the middle of the roaders who use you guys as crutches to camp and pick getting good KDR and not having to be slayed by you beasts.

I dont think any of the very top players of the server team stack deliberately. However there are a lot of very good players that will purposely join sides with those top players to form a stacked team. I also think team balance is not as big as an issue as it was a month to 2 months ago. There was a long period of time a couple months back where teams were always stacked deliberately and it would be very rare to find balanced teams on TD. However for the sake of keeping this idea alive in case the problem becomes an epidemic again, I have this to say:

It seems like this idea will never come into fruition but I think the reasoning behind it is based on the wrong issue. The focus shifted to how hard it can be to balance due to the inconsistency of players and the ability for any player to catch fire. This is true in the same sense that the toronto raptors (a crappy team) may not lose to miami heat (a stacked/elite team) in a game of basketball every time. However 90% of the time, the stacked team will win. To argue that there is a small chance of victory no matter what is a poor way to look at balance. The main issue that sterlingarcher was trying to bring up was that people are stacking teams deliberately at the start of each map which gives that team an insurmountable advantage. The fact that once in a rare while, a stacked team will struggle to win 16-0 or even lose does not counteract the fact that stacked teams win in ridiculous fashion majority of the time.

Forced auto balance is a good way to ensure regulars on the server are not forming stacked teams deliberately. Good players stacking teams is not as big of an issue today as it was back then but still exists occasionally. You can still join today and for 4 maps in a row, the same top 40 players on the server are on the same side. They will most likely dominate for 4 maps in a row but the logic in this thread seems to indicate that that is ok as long as there was a bit of competition 1/10th of the time during those 4 maps.

The server is not a competitive server even though there are a lot of good player that play on it. We have one if you would rather play on that. Admins are supposed to deal with stackers, and balance teams. It is not always an easy job, but it gets done.

Again Auto-Join has been discussed and its not going to happen, if Admins are not doing their job they can/will be replaced.

It might help to give a consistently losing team money, but that's probably not possible with server configs, though I don't know for sure. I'm guessing this would have to be scripted. There's nothing more irritating than being on a teams that's being killed and suddenly the other team is buying negevs and all I can afford is an MP7.

The top players are usually spread out. What makes the team is the mid-level players that talk on mic and call out positions. It's tough to balance because Peter Pan, Ayanami, Tytanium, Flawless rarely define how well the team is doing. If your team is losing and yuo have good players, start working together better. But I always will try to even teams if I see a team of Ayanami, Peter Pan, Archonn, Dank, Stigma for example.

I've been doing what I can to intentionally unstack recently. It's tough though as the server is mostly full. The opportunities to swap to balance are few and far between.

Btw, I'm feeling left out that I wasn't included in the above post :P

The teams will never be perfectly balanced, but there are times when the teams are clearly stacked and admins don't do anything. In fact, sometimes it's the admins stacking. I don't see the harm in having auto-balance, where teams are balanced if they lose too many in a row. The games are a lot more fun when the teams are on even footing.

yes, its annoying. and when admins do it, u should snitch them out. if in fear of retaliation, snitch anonymously via PM. all admin abuse should be reported, shits bad for business.

Right and will begin to do, but the problem of stalked teams would still exist if they are not admins.

i gave up on the stacking issue. if admins try to fix it, u just end up switching ppl full-time. and then sometimes you fuck up because the ATB is working parallel to your efforts. :fuuu:

I usually switch a top player with a low player, I usually ask on server before I do. If we are losing badly I try to switch. still getting use to it.
