Do what I do pina, call MS on product application, explain that you bought the computer off of your boyfriend, tell Surinder Nunaveet that you require your produt activated (which he will comply) and then your genuine advantage thing will work.

the stupid genuine microsoft software is loading up once i start my pc, im screwed; bill gates' minions are after me and i dont have enough money for a M249

to activate any windows, just call them, give them that long number installation ID, and just say you upgraded hardware and it's asking you to re-activate (WORKS EVERYTIME 100% GUARENTEE)... they will give you the key to activate. I'm completely 100% certain, it works for me EVERY SINGLE TIME !!! :)

Ugh. I dont think i could actually speak to anyone associated with microsoft without ripping them a new asshole. anyhow, just google WGA patch. bunch of shit should come up. the best way to avoid this for anyone who is afraid to update a fresh install of windows is to use autopatcher. its official windows updates, but it doesnt have anything to do with M$. www.autopatcher.com
but the best thing to do for you is to go into safe mode, back up your documents and settings folder (mainly the application data folder) then install a cracked copy with WGA already on it. then you just install your programs and then copy over the application data folder to get all of your old settings back to the way they were.
I do this about every month to wipe out my windows drive and get rid of all the shit on it that i dont use/need. Format your computer once a month and you will live a long and happy life.
