Upgrade update!

I love the bias in all of these supposed 'charts'... such bullshit. As if an i3-3xxx would beat out a 1090T... what a joke.
First, it's about relative performance in most games, and specifically recall this line:
" I don’t recommend upgrading your CPU unless the potential replacement is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in game performance."

So in other words, anything processor within 3 tiers of another processor, with the same GPU, will perform roughly the same.
And in this case, it's 2+2 (2 physical + 2 virtual (HT)) versus 6 cores. So if a game doesn't take advantage of 6 cores, then a 2+2 would perform similarly.

Yes yes, I know all about physical and logical cores, as well as application-based threading. However, I still don't see an i3 outperforming a 1090T. Real-world, i3's are fuckin shit, it's no wonder they're $80 retail.

My main issue with performance metrics is they just use whatever board some manufacturer sends the people putting together the results. AMD is at a disadvantage here because the AM3+ chipset still uses a Northbridge which requires some finessing to come close to the RAM throughput that Sandy/Ivy Bridge chips have stock because of their IMC.

I can think of two things off the top of my head where AMD trumps Intel:

1) Overclocking. Cold bugs prevent Intel from even competing in LN2 temp ranges
2) Chips for power users. Not all of us have $1000+ to blow on an Intel chip just to get 6 cores, Phenom II chips on the other hand were only $140-160.

I'm running a 1090T now and have only two cores left for running a game because the other four are dedicated to running two other OS. That kind of shit might not be important to someone who cares about a higher score on some gay performance measuring program, but it's pretty important when it makes the difference between everything running smoothly and bogging down from the overhead resource cost.

2 days away from being a month since I rang them about these damn clips.

I've rang them around 5 times since the first time, and they keep telling me that they have contacted Zalman and will update me in a few days.
They have never once rang me, it has always been me ringing them.
All I ask for is one simple phone call saying 'We have arranged to have your new clips delivered by next week'

:tableflip:

Fuck this stock fan.
It fucking hurts my ears.

Zalman doesn't even have offices outside of Korea, you could be waiting a while for them to get out the ol Engrish dictionary and put gangnam style on mute for long enough to send a response.

I feel you on the stock fan noise. the heatsink itself is great but the fan is so ridiculously small that it has to really spin like a mofo to provide enough airflow. a simple solution is to tear off the stock fan and replace it with a bigger, quieter case fan held on by paperclips or whatever else you have at your disposal. Just be sure to keep an eye on temps afterwards because the stock fan has a PWM pin to let the mobo control speed whereas case fans do not (PWM plugs have 4 pins instead of the 3 that case fans have). To that end, I recommend downloading the Core Temp application which will conveniently give you CPU temps in real time right on the taskbar.

$alvador I don't think I'll be doing anything that drastic just yet xD
Although I didn't know they had no offices outside of Korea, that sucks..

Cock That would probably be the best thing to do...but I'll give it another few weeks.
If nothing has happened by then I will rage at Zalman down the phone.

You would have thought the company would have at least called me to update me on the fact that they're still waiting on Zalman to contact them or something.
