Hey guys. I'm going to complain about the server now only because I love the community and the players and I think it needs to be either looked at or talked about. I've donated to the community so I'll use this as my one-time "suggestions or concerns box" thread.

So, I'm aware that the server has been hosted at a new host provider for awhile now and it's been great. But, the last couple months the server has been getting regularly worse in terms of registry and lag spikes. This includes off-peak times. I've heard of providers over subscribing and/or not upgrading and just reaping the profits which may be the case here. It might also just be an over abundance of server mods but I don't know. Whatever the cause is it's gone past the tolerable level in to rage quit territory. I just feel that if it continues we will lose out on new players sticking around and having some current regulars look elsewhere to play. I don't want to see that with CSSGO approaching.

So, that being said, of course you guys might be talking about this internally and I hope that's the case. If not, then I hope you take this this opportunity to do so. I just felt it should be brought to light. Thanks for the many great years of CSS server providing and community building.

We had better figure the cause of this lag in the next two months. Some how I doubt we will see DARKLY become a big server host in CS:GO if all our servers lag like this.

Whether its to many trade servers, the minecraft server, hardware, or cvar issues we had better figure something out if we want TD-GO to start off on a good foot.

With so many servers up in a new game, no ones gonna put up with this lag like they do on TD.

+1-Steve There are many reasons why server's get jolts to many mods, shitty box/net-work... etc I would be asking this aim 2 game for the stat's of the box shit is being ran on, just because they say it's a 32 person set up doesn't mean its originaly a box/set up for 24 ppl(way to increase there profit) hence why the server has problems keeping up at times when its past 26 ppl(or close to that) Also the cs mod is shit, the original mod was designed for 5v5 anything more than that is community added mods....

Also I blame valve with the orange box update, its like they realized there never going to get reg "right" so they decided to go and compete with COD and the last year of updates is getting everyone use to that style of game play.... I feel we will have to wait for half-life 3 for a new cs engine that will bring us back to a game with proper reg... Maybe they should try a relay system so no matter what everyone plays near the same ping.

Also I might be cracked out but are old servers interp set at o.o would show up as 19.5... Now this new server at 0.0 shows up at 29.0.... ?

might be worth inquiring if the main CSS pub is being dumped onto a virtual server sharing RAM with other servers since TD has so many servers going. even 32 man would run without a hitch on any modern box with a decent upload providing there are no other servers trying to run off the same box

Anyone else been playing the last hour or so? how has the lag been since some of the mods were disabled?

Sigh there is just no winning with source/orange box. The lag is less severe, but the hiccups are still here and there every few rounds... but now 2-3 groups of people getting stuck with every team switch.

Maybe we should remake everysingle fucking map with 30 spawns on each team?


I pray CS:GO comes native with a good ATB.

Spawntools7 was one of the plugins disabled for testing, so maps like contra, egon, season will have the stuck shit. I removed Russka from nomination as that's even worse without it.

Maybe we need contra_td season_td etc for all of them, like what bj did with strike but many more spawns :|

it would be a lot of work BJ but would you be up for it? maps that need it if spawntools is disabled: Egon, russka, season, contra, strike(needs just a few more spawns added to a new version). :|

Server is a beast.

That looks like the kind of box that is set up to run at least 4 servers simultaneously. Virtualization bugs could be the problem, especially if the other servers are loaded with traffic and maxing out their resource requirements.

it's pretty normal to do that, and makes sense in this case because 64GB of RAM and over a TB of memory is far too much for a CS server. Also dual Xeons pointless unless there is something running on the other cores. Well, the only way I can think of to confirm this is to see if the TF2 servers have been getting more traffic since the lagging started.

People are going nuts with team-attacking and no one knows why, I finally figured it out.
