I heard a great analogy as to how the operating systems work. Consider each Operating system is an appartment.

Mac is the best appartment money can buy, and comes with nothing but top quality furniture, except it is bolted to the floor and you cant change anything around.

Windows isnt very high end, but you can move your furniture around to suit your needs.

With Linux, you build your own fucking furniture.

wooot! i wonder.. will PCs and MACs be able to play the same game together?!
[/quote1271304136]
Yes you will be able to. Same servers same games. And if you own games on pc you don't have to re-buy them for mac version of steam.

No, no they aren't at all. Mac > PC anyday.

They use the same processors (Intel), video chipsets (NVidia), etc in prettier packaging. The biggest difference is Apple used certain makes of hardware and codes their OS appropriately to address that hardware. Windows has to address many more different hardware configurations and as a end result isn't as good.

Don't ever try and convince a fanboy that Apple isn't awesome. It's like masturbating without the payoff.

(I admit they make some decent products, I just won't pay the premium)

Yes, you're ALMOST there, but not quite. Referring to using "the same processors (Intel)" - this is true, to a very fine extent.

For example, you're everyday PC-style machine using a T43/4400, or at most (without getting into corei-series) a T66/72xx, both running @ ~ 2.1Ghz: only difference being a 1-2MB cache up to a 2-3MB cache, respectively. In a Mac however, you'd be running a higher grade processor (a "top of the line", if you will), offering not only higher clock speeds (up to 2.8Ghz) and much greater cache capacity (up to 6MB), but a higher reliability and "grade" - even for mobile computing.

This is just an example of ONE piece of hardware, of which there are many in a laptop/computer, and all of which are quality in Apple computers :)

Ya, classic Apple restrictions... I'm sure once the beta is over it'll be full-fledged.

IApparently going to steam://run/52003 is supposed to run Steam without the block. Doesn't work for me though. Valve's probably fixed that loophole in an update already.
