lol skd just get one.

Getting two SSD's for Raid0 really ISN'T worth the effort or expense.

Great. Now I'm sitting here debating laying out a couple hundred to snag some SSD to put into RAID 0. I was sitting on the fence saying the expense didn't justify the effort (esp high failure rate).

Way to go douche bags.

I'm coming into this conversation uber late, but we use SSD to optimize non-critical systems. They rarely go down, and man do they ever optimize the HECK out of our day to day operations.

Seriously man, check it out. I'm exploring using them in conjuction with DataGuard for production systems, so if the SSD ever did go down, we'd have the platter backup.

We still use mostly physical disks for our storage...using PPRC currently. They're talking about switching to dataguard for backups, but they're worried they'll have to license more cores to do so. They are trying to avoid sinking a few hundred grand more into it.

Speaking of which, have you ever dealt with Oracle billing? Freaking morons. I wonder how they pay their bills with the way they keep track of stuff.

You won't notice much of a performance difference in games with an SSD. If you're putting Windows on it, things will feel speedier but as for raw FPS, there won't be much of an improvement.

I still think it's too soon to get an SSD for games as the price/space ratio is too large.
