I know. With Android, you can install apps two ways, from Google play or from a .apk file. If you have the .apk file, it doesn't matter if the dev. removes the game from Google play or not, but that's not the case with (C)Apple, thus people selling their phones with Flappy Bird.

No, it is not. The act in itself is not illegal, it's what you can with it that may infringe on copyrights. So jailbreaking is not illegal, however in spite of it Apple will always void your warranty and not help you in any case. Reverting to a 'stock' Apple OS, however, is as easy as plugging it in to iTunes and updating/restoring to factory settings, so you're good as gold.
