Can run BF3 on all high flawlessly, haven't tried ultra yet b/c I am lazy.
CS Source, ... lol ... 299-300 FPS all the time on most maps, maybe low 100s on bad maps with lots of stuff going on

That said, if I had to buy today a new gaming rig with my own money, I would do a 2600K/GTX570 (or 580) build with SSD as boot/apps drive.

newer SSDs have insanely long life, I wouldn't worry about that unless you're deleting and writing huge blocks of information on a daily basis.

my specs are mostly covered in the sig link to my CPU-Z validation, but as of tomorrow that's no longer my main rig because I picked up some parts today. As of tomorrow I'll be on...

Hope I can make full use of 6 cores and 8 GB of RAM, no plans to OC it yet because I dont have an aftermarket cooler but it runs HOT so I'll def be looking at getting a good waterblock and putting it on a separate loop from the GPU.

everything is fast as fuck, mostly thx to ssd. had problem with realtech onboard sound (pc crash during bc2 play), so i just got a sound card for $60. run most games on ultra with reduced AA and filtering, could use a newer gpu.

if your mobo has sata3, get that. otherwise, just get the fastest one u can.

ssd will only help with load times (a lot), not with fps, but so worth it last time i checked, they has 470/470 128gb for under $200, probably cheaper now.

doesn't make much sense to be looking at SSDs now that Boxing week is over when most retailers slash SSD prices to the annual low. I missed out this year too and I had my eye on a nice SSD that was $35 off regular price. There might be some still marked off for New Year sales but if you're getting more than one likely eBay will be your best bet

1.5 yrs. i have two 40gb intel drives (1st gen ssd). 200 read / 15 write. and one Adata 120gb 270/270. im very happy with those, a sata3 must be insane fast.
