So 2 weeks ago i bought a Dell Latitude E6520 Laptop:

Intel Core i5 (2.5Ghz)
4GB DDR3 RAM (2 DIMM)
500GB HDD 7200RPM
NVIDIA NVS 4200M
HD+ 1600x900 Display

Today, after having the computer for a week and a day, the display decided to take a shit... I have flickering blue lines all across the screen. Have never had a Dell before but i have been told by a few people that they are good computers, but so far i am not seeing it.. Any thoughts..?

Call up dell tech support and get them to replace it.

I bought a Dell Latitude D810 (beastly laptop) in the summer of 05, and it ended up having a heating issue with the video card from the get-go. I called up Dell, and instead of fixing it, they just sent me a new one and had me drop the old one off at a UPS store.

Also, this laptop had a 3 year warranty, so 3 years less a month, i got them to replace the entire display module because one of the two hinges was broken and there were 2-3 dead pixels :D The guy ended up coming to my house and replacing it on my kitchen table; zero down time.

clark :) i have a dell lappy that i got for uni as well. Dudes a champ, had it for 4+ years and its still running strong, even after I dropped it and really mangled the thing.

That being said, like all hardware, sometimes you get a bunk product :p Dell has good support, sure they'll take care of it :)

hows a lap top awkward to use? its a form factor you can easily plug a mouce, keyboard and moniter into and have the same experience as a desktop but then pick it up and go anywhere with it and use it on its own, since when is flexibility awkward? and 47 it has an intel chipset and an nvidea video card? isnt it ? perfect puter?

this is why we dont trust gypsy's with nice things.

yes i agree if its that new call up dell for a replacment. if dell has experience with one thing more than anyone else in this industry its custumer suport i got them to replace an old monitor a while back with very little problems.

that dose look like itd be a sweet laptop mine is a pos that somehow can run starcraft2 and eve online but not Counter Strike?

ive had laptops more then desktops and love them, awesome portable computers... and no.. it is not the vid card, it does it with both the integrated Intle Card and the NVIDIA NVS 4200M card, just as well, it does no show the lines on external monitors.
I called up Dell, and they have a new one coming, i decided to throw another $50 at is to upgrade to the 1920x1080 Res display xD
