New Casino in Toronto

There is going to be a vote in April to determine whether or not they should build a Casino in the City of Toronto. Just wondering what's your opinion on this matter.

Personally I think it's a bad idea, and while the government is gonna make a ton of loot, I doubt that it will be enough to offset the harm it will inevitably cause. If anyone feels the way and lives in the city please check out this site for what you can do to take action, there is not a lot of time to get moving.

I hope they build it but if not there, I hope its in etobicoke which I believe is the next destination if its not in Toronto.

The money this can bring in can go back into supporting public costs. Its also one step in the right direction for Toronto to make it a much grander city. The casino will attract people and therefore attract more businesses. Toronto is great and all but does it feel like a city with entertainment values worthy of being called the 4th biggest city in north america? I don't think so but a casino and the soon to be open aquarium is a step in the right direction.

I read some of the 'facts' from the link you provided. And other than traffic, I can't really agree with any of the other points. Despite what it says in that site, I think it will be a net gain for the economy. The casino will improve employment, the tax revenue will be largely beneficial for the city and it will help boost local retail sales.

The issue with a Toronto Casino is placement, the EX is a bad spot too small.

meh. Halifax has had a casino for years and it hasn't really fucked up the city. I think it will just feed on the people from the GTA looking for something to do on a Saturday night, for Americans I'm sure it's more convenient to just go to Niagara or Jersey
