Hey,
I'm looking to buy a laptop for around $700 give or take a $100. But I'm looking pretty much to do school work and play CSS.

I'm not looking for optimal gaming but decent.

Help my noob ass out!

i was gonna link some shit toshiba but ya the one mike linked is kick ass and a great price id get that one. but if your gaming on it then id recomend picking up a external keyboard and mouse for at home use just ask drugs im sure hes got an old mouce and keyboard lying around, thats where i got mine from

I have the new xps 14 right now. It's actually amazing. I didn't want to spend too much so I got it on sale with an i3 w/ the 420M and 6gb ram(it was default I swear). Right now it can play Starcraft 2 fairly well(not on Ultra settings obviously but it's really smooth).

lol.
you're gonna need your own keyboard and mouse, yeah. but we're starting to run low on that stuff.
you probably dont need the high end shit we have.
you gotta find a way to get a more stable connection from your basement as well.

That Dell's not bad, I priced it out at $869, the only thing upgraded was the display from shitty-ass 1366x768 (which they claim is 720P, but it's NOT... fuckin custy liar ads) to 1920x1080...

There's better options IMO.

Quick example:

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=710_577_369&item_id=035000

$849 gives you:
- HD display (can't confirm this on their site though)
- 1GB Nvidia dirty card
- USB 3.0
Over the Dell.

Edit:
Price is now $969, and i forgot to add its an i5, not i3 like the dell. Oh well, keep shopping, its all about the deal you find when your ready to buy. Shit keeps changin!

... That's actually an amazing price. That laptop was much more expensive a couple months ago.

TBH you're comparing something that's on a pretty amazing sale. At the $850 price point for the Dell it's still not that bad. I'm actually really happy with it.

Oh, ya i understand the comparion isnt the most fair, then again, its dell... i normally compare dell with k-mart. However, im just trying to find the best deal for whoeverd buyin, n that asus seems good, well made too.

i bought a dell studio xps 16 before i left to australia last year. Altho Dell never had the best rep before I bought, I haven't had any problems w my laptop yet. There was an issue with the power brick that came with mine being underpowered, but I just contacted customer support and made a stink about it and they shipped me a new one in australia for free.

The new studio looks decent and is priced pretty well too.
