A friend of mine is in a rut. She is currently without a car due to some complicated situations, but she has a limited amount of time to get herself a new car. On top of that, she only has a limited amount of cash, too.

Basically, hopefully before the end of this month, she is hoping to pick up some piece of shit rust bucket that can get her to and from work. Her budget is $1000 cash and the car must be automatic transmission.

I've been helping her out looking online for some cars but most of them aren't certified and that's also something she is looking for. E-tested isn't required, she said she can get that done on her own but she doesn't have the time/money to get it certified.

I was just wondering if any of you know someone who could help her or anything really would be wonderful.

a car is not just something you buy with limited time and limited cash, unless you actually know how to fix one yourself.

Yeah, thanks, I got that. But it's kind of an emergency. =\

So... she needs a reliable car, but she doesn't have the time or money to ensure that she will get one that works well? Keep in mind just because a car passes safety doesn't mean it's in any condition to get a person to and from work consistently. She could be stranded a day after getting it with a busted alt. Then what? More money to fix.

She either needs to devote more money to it, to ensure that the car she gets will at least run consistently, or devote more time to find a car for cheap that doesn't need anything crucial replaced.

^100% Truth^

My father got beat up Shitty cars/vans every 6 months when but he finally saved for a good Van it ran for 3-4 years, then the engine block cracked. Good 'ol GM quality. What ever you do, don't buy a NEON or a "dodge 2.0" (same car) cars are shit even when bought new.

Mandy: search autotrader.ca, they'll have TONS of cars for you.

Also, check out JPMotors. They specialize in selling a lot of cars, for cheaper (their moto is more volume, cheaper prices = same profit). I bought mine there, albeit for much more than a grand, but still got a certified car for far less than other lots.

To be honest, for a grand cash, autotrader.ca is the best option I've seen. Do note that for a grand, most cars might not come certified, and hence not emission tested/allowed to test for emissions, and hence no insurance. Do your best!

I had a red 97 caravan sport minivan which I sold a few weeks ago as is for $950
I should visit the forums more often!
As others have said, for 1k you can't really get a car cert/e-test.
