How do larvae get on a dead body? (Looking for honest, no-research answers)

Curious how long someone who just received fatal wounds has before he's eaten...dead or alive.

flies land to snack on corpse, lay some eggs = maggots. idk if can be eaten alive because maggots are known to eat only necrotic tissue. to eat a whole corpse, depends on quantity of maggots. in the winter , for example, there will be few to none. in perfect conditions, ill guess 6-8 weeks to eat a corpse. few months to eat a fat murican.
