when im watching a movie (video stream), it runs well at first, but then gets progressively worse. the frames start to get skippy after about 30min. heat? codec? a buffering issue? flash? i dont think its heat, because the fan runs at normal speed.

For heat issues:

Using a laptop fan? If you are just watching a stream put it in power save then go into advanced settings under power options and change the max cpu usage to around 35%. If your laptop has a dedicated gpu then use msi afterburner to down clock the core and memory speed to create less heat. Also make sure the fan in your power setting is set to active and not passive. Idk if you can fix the other problems any other way than using another browser or something.

I'd also recommend this, however it can't be his browser, if it happens continuously after a certain amount of time.

I think it may actually be the CPU heat, do you have an application that tells you the temperature, like SpeedFan? After a certain amount of time, regardless of whether the fan is running or not, if it's not exchanging enough air when the temperature grows hotter than normal, it will not be able to keep up. Especially if the fan's remaining at the same speed, if the CPU/GPU heat that's generated increases faster than the fan can pump it out, you'll get a hot poker of a laptop.

Specs 47?

I couldn't say for sure...but I will say this.
I noticed a huge quality difference between streaming on my laptop and streaming on my PC.
It could be graphics? CPU? RAM? Anything, but I don't know really.

My laptop was absolute crap compared to my PC.

PC's have better resource management I believe...that and enough space to regulate all that heat from playing CS:GO for about 10 hours, then jerking off for another 10.:yea:

47 try this:

Open a video, but pause it. Right-click on the video and click on Flash Player preferences. Look for hardware acceleration and if it's on, try turning it off; if it's already off, try turning it on.
EDIT: You may have to refresh the page for the changes to take effect, I don't know for sure, but I think that's a safe way to gauge whether the change is having any effect or not.

Can you give me the specs on the laptop? Nothing too detailed: CPU, GPU, make (i.e. hp, acer etc.), also how old it is.

dual core, hp, 3+ yrs old. for $700, so gpu is prolly poo. weird thing that it runs great but then gets shitty in 30 min +

u could take the laptop apart and dust everything
^Good idea, when's the last time you blew the dust out of your laptop 47? That can also, while it might sound silly, drastically improve performance.

Also the picture I showed above is an airplane engine exchanging air.
