- fuck me.... Im using a mac book pro retina ... it started out ok as a gaming laptop ... now everytime I get near some fight action i lagg... maybe my video card is pooched.....Im going to check it with the apple store... its to hard to play on...
Do some ping tests to known hosts (i.e.
www.google.com,
www.rogers.com etc.). Also, when you ping, see your hops n shit via the
command; where
www.google.com can be replaced with any known host you'd like to ping (I guess the server you play on most would really help you, here).
If that's a non-issue, I suggest looking into SMCControl - it's an OSX utility that will allow you to adjust (manually, or automatically based on temperatures) the fan speeds inside your Macbook Pro. I'm not sure heat could be an issue in a new machine, however it's worth the shot because MacBooks may very well throttle CPU/GPU performance as per temperature, like most laptops do.
Good luck!
EDIT: As far I remember, Macbook Pro's have two GPU's: a shittier one to handle OS-related browsing etc., to use less power; and a more powerful GPU to handle gaming. I'm not sure how to go about verifying which card is in use, but maybe check some system prefs and have a look through System Profiler to verify both cards are, in fact, installed and working correctly.
