I was talking to Goldfinger on the CS:GO server and thought I should post this: Quantum Computing

I'm New Here
I also just read the rest of this thread. So much bad science, no offense.

A couple things:
My friend has worked with an actual quantum computer at Perimeter in Waterloo, Canada. I think it was only one qubit. But there are a lot of hurdles before we ever see a quantum computers commercially. I am not an expert in this field, in fact what I know I know from my friend and the three quantum courses I took in university (not much). I think one of the biggest problems right now is scalability. Another big problem is noise. Quantum systems are extremely sensitive!

Fusion energy is still a long way off. The ITER project in France is still an experimental (not commercial) project. The idea is that small scale fusion reactors do not work so great, so they went full steam ahead to build a full-scale version and see what happens. Think of it like the LHC of fusion energy. The biggest problems with fusion reactors (I think) are finding materials capable of withstanding the fields and temperatures required, as well as finding strong enough magnets and containment methods.

Michio Kaku is a smart guy, but he is not the best theoretical physicist in the world. He is just a good physicist who decided to share science with the rest of the world (something which needs to be done more often). Kind of like Bill Nye or Carl Sagan.
