Epic Computer War Stories

OK, so like a couple of weeks ago i was getting heated with win 7's degenerate performance and a bad case of bit rot. so i finally snapped when the fucker froze up, so i jumped up off my chair and with the swiftness of the majestic cheetah i bore down with a double fist axe smash right on the lappy's keyboard/body.!! of course it was a shell of it's former self. would not work for shit, would not even hold a fresh install of xp. i turn it on and it would go strait to safe mode lol. making all kinds of scratching noises from the hd. So i ordered me a new seagate 320gb, slapped that mofo in and ran a fresh install..... B A M ! ! ! Works like brand new, not a single problem. I had thought that for how hard i hit it i would have to buy a new lappy. but it held up and keeps on keepin on. Over the time of owning this machine i have grown to hate HP, but all in all this lappy is damn near bullet proof.

HP DV6233se,1.6g 2x64 AMD. 2gig ram
320gb Seagate Momentus
Nvidia Geforce 6150
Busted ass battery.

Not by any means a GOOD machine, but it works for what i need at the moment.

sounds like you did a proper realignment when u gave it a good smash.

not too epic but i got something like a computer graveyard here (wish it was more like the star ship enterprise), gotta go though and throw a lot of shit out one of these days.

I agree, Sony sucks balls. Asus is good, but who wants to pay so much, especially when you expect a desktop replacement, but they never quite make it. HP, Toshiba and (now) Samsung offer the best value per performance/quality. Since 90% of laptops source their parts from the same fuckin places, it really doesn't matter.

DELL is in a whole league of it's own, and that's at the very bottom of any barrel. In the entire world. Period. The ONE good thing, is that IFF you order from DELL directly, you can customize - I envy this SO much, as every other manufacturer should as well. Too bad no amount of customization could save that piece of shit.

IBM WAS good, but now they just suck. Solid, SOLID machines, but fuck they're slow and old (rarely any graphics cards on 'em either, I find).

+1 on Sony sucking.

They're hard to take apart more so than the other makes.

Dell is bargain basement laptops. They're trying to be the Walmart of computing. Pisses me off.

HP is not a favorite. Can't EVER use their shit right outta the box. Have to wipe it and start over then you might be okay.

My recent (sept 09) Lenovo X200 Thinkpad is the bomb buddy. When I get an SSD for it, there won't be a damn thing slow about it. Also the pre-installed vista basic is still running perfect straight outta the box. The system itself stays between 35-40C even with heavy use. No games, but I could play CSS and I am assuming SC2 if I wanted with the X4500 graphics. 7+ hours battery life, proper CPU and 3 pounds is fucking win.

although ive never broken any of my computer's hardware, i did break my desk this past year in two places from smashing it over lag issues during CSS. also ruined a few sets of headphones and mics by throwing them.

can't believe they throw a Intel X4500 Integrated Graphics in that laptop for that price.

and man those thinkpad look so LAME XD they haven't change a bit in the looks.

x4500 holds its own for intended purpose, geforce or radeon would likely just drain battery, produce heat and add weight for nothing.

it can play CSS, L4D, but it heats up to 60 Celsius right away. It can handle things like google earth, aero, HD video without breaking a sweat... off topic, the one computer i have never had to war with.

My opinion is quite obviously fact. Duh!

R and T lines of laptops. Even the batteries don't last long!

I will admit I don't like Lenovo as a company regardless of their products. If it works for you all the more power to you Mike. You aren't going to change my opinion - and consequently the truth, no matter how hard you try :-)
