June 4, 2012 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is targeted for release on August 21, 2012.

To be available via the Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac), CS:GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay pioneered when Counter-Strike was launched almost 13 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).

CS:GO will be sold for approximately $15 on all platforms.

CS:GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS:GO introduces new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

Developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment, the title will be playable in the Sony and Microsoft booths this week at E3 in Los Angeles, CA.

For more information, please visit http://store.steampowered.com/app/1800/

So there you go. CS:GO will set us back $15, and be available August 21, 2012 (August 21, 2015, Valve time).

Maybe it didn't require quite as much work to produce. CS is a pretty simple game in terms of function and the Source Engine was already rolled. shrug. good news either way

Well engine wise its the same but game mechanics are still quite different. I mean the concept is the same it just doesn't feel like cs;s. I can't really explain it it's something you'd have to try. If I had some way of letting you play my beta I would. It's fun, but you have to get used to it. The spray mechanics are strange and firing in short bursts doesn't have the hit box I feel it should like in cs:s.

All physics seems different. It's the same game, with better graphic but my mouse is fucked up in CSGO.
Anyway, you need to try it to understand what we're talking about, I can't even explain it in french.

the guns are really different in go, pure scatter cannons. feels very "rubbery"

Game isn't bad, it's very different from CS:S
The jump/crouch mechanics are totally changed
Any sniper scope is blurry when walking and shaky
P90 is still ownage, MP7 is stupid accurate.
Deag feels just like CS:S
No silencers
The scout replacement is shit

Edit: mechanics kinda feels like 1.6 but 300lbs heavier.

$15 is about all it worth at this point.... im laughing my ass off at the people who were spending more money for beta than the real games gonna cost.

Game play is worse/slower than 1.6. I guess they are willing to accept putting out an inferior product if they dont ask much for it

I am SO afraid they're ruining this game for the sake of console. Honest to God I'm slowly giving up on gaming as a whole. EA has obliterated PC gaming and I'm slowly playing more PS3 single-player / racing games. Tired of this bullshit. Start adding up costs like games, dlc's, expansion packs, some even have monthly fees etc. and all of a sudden games are $200+. I don't care how much I love gaming, I just can't do it anymore.

$15 is wicked, and I love Valve a lot, but if it's gonna be some shit console port with garbage mechanics (like source), then fuck it..

its still beta. even after release, theyll patch it until ppl stop bitching, like they did with source.

That's my point. Source is so broken :( lol
I know I'm a bit picky with my Counter-Strike, but Interp has ruined it for me. Kids with no aim, aiming a meter off one way of a head and getting headshots? That's just nonsense to me... makes zero sense :(

Still, even with all of that, I had expected it to be a lot more expensive.
I think i would be able to part with $15 xD

And the way I explained CS:GO to people, is that it seems to me like a hybrid of CS:S and COD.
