But original beeftree had carriers, destroyers, battleships, landing craft, submarines, all controllable by player.
Except in the battle of coral sea, which is one of my favorite all time Beeftree maps.
Pure airplanes, sink the carrier!
Ya, that's a wicked scale of things. Beeftree seems more 'local' of a battlefield...
Yeah man, I am telling you the scale of the battle was epic. Walking from North West corner to South East corner could mean any where from 15 minutes to and hour of swimming, without vehicles. It was truly 'epic'.
I believe BF1942 is now free to download and play online via EA.. I would so be down to show you what DC was some time with leroy, BJ.
If you can stand the old graphics its still a blast. I believe there is 1 popular NA desert combat server left, and a few really nice german servers. Most servers are dead now though(RIP).
That feel when on one map you can: Go medic to heal(not rez), Sniper, Assualt, Heavy assault, spec ops, get a car, get a light armor car, get a light tank(BMPs, Bradleys...) tanks( T72's abrams howitzers) Choppers(Lil bird, blackhawk, Russian Hinds) Anti air Missle systems(SA-3, Patriot missles), fighters( F14, f15, f16c, mirage fighter) bombers( a-10 , SU , stealth bombers..) also ARTY units where you dont just click on a damn map to fire them(SCUD MISSLE, BM-21, MLRS systems)..
so many feels where had.
sigh
