Freedom of information is probably our best hope of resistance against the tyrants.

this is the best tool available to check on the progress of current bills
http://www.parl.gc.ca/LegisInfo/Result.aspx

search c-50 c-51 c-52.
http://www.parl.gc.ca/LegisInfo/Result.aspx?BillNumberQuick=C-52&Language=E&Mode=1
the "last process competed" for all three bills are have been "Introduction and First Reading in the House of Commons (2010-11-01)"

But I'm sure you all already know this, in fact it seems that over 30,000 people already submitted their personal information to a third party in protest. I'll have to assume that there are just as many passionately written letters mailed to their House of Commons representatives.

tldr: write a letter. lazy fags; value and protect your personal information on the web.

https://www.eff.org/about

Blending the expertise of lawyers, policy analysts, activists, and technologists, EFF achieves significant victories on behalf of consumers and the general public. EFF fights for freedom primarily in the courts, bringing and defending lawsuits even when that means taking on the US government or large corporations. By mobilizing more than 61,000 concerned citizens through our Action Center, EFF beats back bad legislation. In addition to advising policymakers, EFF educates the press and public.

I've been donating to these guys for a couple years now top notch foundation.

So rather then fight against it you just give up?

Fight what? Our activities online are already being monitored by everyone and their mothers, anyone who thinks we are actually anonymous online is seriously ignorant of how this internet thing works.

This has absolutely nothing to do with you or I downloading porn or infringing upon copyright, because the cops can and do wait for warrants when they're trying to bust someone for that. So what else is there to fear here? I just don't see it.

The rational thought is that the real objective of this bill is to figure out who is stupid enough to visit al Qaeda websites from their own DNS. This is more of a tool for the police to be able to monitor and connect criminals/terrorists conducting business online and use it to build a more solid case. The way some people make this seem, you'd think the cops are bent on throwing you in prison for the rest of your natural life because they learned you visit thepiratebay.
