The reason is quite obvious...

The pan was banned because it's beyond annoying. People spam the sound effect to piss people off more than anything else. We've had many people AND idlers set up scripts to have the character auto-attack a wall for 8 hours at a time while they are not at their computer. While annoying, this could also cause issues with the server. There are plenty of alternative melee weapons and the pan is just a re-skin. Feel free to use those other melee items.
