If mumble is superior to ventrilo why are you and dean using his shit-codex vent server instead of the mumble server right now?

because dean's isp is retarded. you argue that mumble sucks, but your only valid point is that it isn't popular. mumble is just better than vent. unfortunately, popularity is the most important factor here, hence why I agree that we need a vent. i just want mumble as well since i would still use it whenever possible.

I like using mumble more than vent because of in-game overlay. Its a small feature but I would miss it with vent. Sound quality is superb. I could use either.

Well Ventrilo isn't free, however we probably won't need to increase the regular donations.

I found a good host who is running a deal, $59.99 for 25 slots for 12 months. We would probably just start a extra donation fund to pay for this. If enough people want it and chip in, we get it. If not the cash go towards the regular server bill.

Plus, I like listening to music while I play games and I really love how mumble lowers background sounds so you can hear people talk. It's the most amazing feature, personally.

i still think mumble is pretty good after dling and using it compared to vent. just gots to give it a try. Altho it definitely isn't the first program i think of loading when i turn my comp on to play css

I Never use mumble because the only reason I ever used vent was for scrims... We also have lost lots of the usage of this type of a.... thingy... program whatever the fuck you wanna call it.. Because we aren't scrimming.... I think it would gain a bit more population through scrimming because it is a necessity to scrim. I dont just go sit on mumble or vent for no reason lol.

you can use mumble the same way as vent to scrim. If you contact the people who scrim'd regularly, send em a link to DL mumble and how to connect to the TD server, you'd be good to go

I figure that most ppl who have complained about mumble or are pro- switching back to vent have probably never downloaded or tried mumble yet

Did anyone mention the fact that mumble crashes..a lot.
Vent rarely ever crashes, has no overlay by default, and individual volume can controlled easily. The .5 second delay in talking is completely bearable.

It's never crashed on me once, ever. The only time it's gone down is when our whole box has gone down, and that should happen because it's on our box. You should uninstall and make sure you have the correct version for your operating system.

As for individuals' volumes, you don't need to adjust them because once you set the audio compression, it actually WORKS, as opposed to vent's system which clearly doesn't work... at all. The whole point of compression is to normalize all incoming audio, so people speak at the same volumes. Take your time in the audio wizard, the shit really works wonders, I promise you. Take 10 minutes, and test your levels with someone else, I'll help you, and I guarentee it'll work great.

White is right tho, mumble does crash alot. I've been using mumble since we got it and there hasnt been a single day that it didnt crash at least once.

i know at least a few people who do. basically because they don't like push-to-talk, and vent doesn't pick up your voice very consistently if you turn off push-to-talk. whereas skype picks up your neighbour taking a shit across the street.
