Ventrilo for sure!
Vent is terible. its just popular. asking people to download something else is just too much sometimes i guess. look at IE
i like mumble works great dosnt lag shit when its open and its alot lighter than vent. cheaper too, and vent was never super busy anyways, the SC channels had a few people, and the BC2 channel got filled up whenever. other that that it was mostly wow raids and UFC nights when we got good population going on it. and to be fair everything on TD is down in pop/activity including the servers and forums, mumble isnt the problem its summer time, all gaming communitys see dropoff in participation once exams are out and to boot TD had a ruff cople month before hand what with the server and foum switch pop was down from that. then there were thos few weeks where none of our servers were showing up in server browsers thus no new population growth.
basicly what im saying is its cheaper and works better than vent dont write it off because population is down on it.
the regs who used vent still use mumble we just dont have the attendance we used to have

Mumble all day. Never fails, voice quality is incredible compared to vent, and it's free. Can't go wrong. Also, I second Clash's point that it runs much lighter, I checked via Task Manager, and it takes next to nothing. The only reason mumble hasn't had too many people in it is because I still (to this day) see herp derps post "How come TD's vent doesn't work?"... as if they didn't see the post about the switch to mumble, or no one's told them for the umptheenth time...

i prefer mumble as well. but like everyone is saying, vent is more popular and so we need to have it. that shouldn't be a question at all. the question would be whether we should keep mumble as well, and i think we should. that way we promote the better system while accommodating the derps who will only use vent.

you must have a ventrilo license to host ventrilo server, so yes we are forced to rent from a host.
although its not free, it certainly isn't expensive. I recently found a host that rents 25sloters for $60 a year. $5 a month aint bad.
I see no fucking difference between these programs other then what Stve stated about low mumble population.
I'm for what ever the fuck works, but we 100% NEED to have a mumble/vent viewer on the website.

Steve just nailed it on the head. There ARE free ventrilo servers out there, public ones without passwords, so the lazy kids will join random-ass vent channels to game... but why? I don't get it.. (Mind you, Pyro has been on mumble with us on minecraft pretty much 100% of the time, and Dean's experiencing network issues, if I'm not mistaken..).
I think TD just needs a big fuckin sign saying "GET MUMBLE NOW YOU IDIOTS" along with a link (sort of like the last site had). Shit's amazing, and it's free. It's not like we're losing gamers because of it, I doubt that.

Ventrilo is like CSS. A old piece of shit, everyone is comfortable playing.
anyways this topic isn't about fumble, its about ventrilo. Even if we get a ventrilo server we can leave fumble up for those that prefer it. The numbers will speak for themselves, and fumble users will speak too themselves.
