Upgrades!!!

So ... I am thinking about upgrading my PC and I was wondering if it was worth it! The whole reason I want to upgrade is cause I am so sick of Vista!

First of all here are my system specs:
Window Vista 32bit
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU 2.4 GHz
3 gig DDR2 RAM
Nvidia Geoforce 8600GT 256MB
500GB HD

And I was thinking about upgrading:
Windows 7 ($130)
my RAM to 7GB ($140)
either ATI Radeon 4650 or Nvidia Geoforce 9600 (debating the two) The Nvidia is $20 cheaper!!! ($180)

The total upgrade is going to cost around $500 ... is this worth it or should I just get a whole new tower? Because I still believe that I have a good processor!

Don't buy windows 7, just download it. Torrent Windows 7 Ultimate AIO Activated, works like a charm.

I'd sell the 3 gigs of RAM and buy 8 gigs dual channel. I think you could buy 6 gigs and do Tri channel if ur mobo supports it.

Gefore 9600 is a lil older and i think the 4650 outperforms it by a margin worth the extra $20.

But eventually they will come out with an update so that the torrented windows 7 won't work ... I think you just have the trial version which only runs until may or something but maybe I am wrong!

why are you upgrading? if your happy with your cpu, im guessing q6600, if anyhting i think a ssd or two will be the best upgrade

Yo bangbang, the torrent version of win7 is gonna be fine. I highly doubt there will be something released by windows that will prevent you from using it in the future. Worst case scenario, just re-install your old vista or get a former OS from a friend. TD members r rollin in the hax ya know.

Ok, now that that's out of the way:
- sell RAM, make $40-50, couple that with upgrade money and get 4/8Gb's of good, low latency DDR2 800/1066Mhz RAM, 9800GT(S), and if you have a decent board, OC it a bit and WOW what performance boost.

Look for performance gain, not upgrade because the part looks new.

I pity all those who go out and buy windows 7 (or any Windows).... fucking DL it for free like TT says... M$ might release something to combat it, but then the hackers will hack it and you'll just DL the new version...

That is how i learned spnny.. the only software i ever payed for is css. ... Also i am running win7 64x ultimate. and i am unhappy !! i think the beta version was more stable and performed alot better. I am happy as a clam that i didn't pay for that shit.

the win 7 ult 64x is amazing, at least compared to the XP 64 i was using before i formatted my HDD. Comp boots super fast and everything runs fast n smoothly
