[UNDER REVIEW] TF2 Admin application: The Observer

Game Handle(s): "Addict", Aaron "The Observer", The Observer
SteamID: DARKLY| The Observer=SteamID
Previous Clan/Community affiliations: TF2 Outpost
Real First Name: Aaron
Age: 14
Location: Woonsocket, USA
Which DARKLY TF2 servers do you play on: Chicago Trade Server #1
Why do you want to be a DARKLY TF2 Admin: I've been playing TF2 for a couple of months now (I had recently joined in February), and I've seen quite a bit of hackers on not only DARKLY's servers, but others as well. I've always seen hackers as low-lifes who have absolutely no skill with the game they're hacking, so they resort to hacks to boost their "ego". Every time I see a hacker, especially in DARKLY's servers, I get this feeling of "I have to do something about this, or it's never going to get done." Once I found out recently that DARKLY's allowing applications for admins, I immediately felt some happiness, knowing that hackers will no longer have the last laugh.

YES/NO Questions:

Do you have a minimum of 1 month on the server with at least 50 hours of play? While GameMe's statistics for your server says that I've only been playing for three days is completely false. I've actually been playing for over two and a half months, with over 125 hours put directly into your Chicago #1 trading server.
Do you have a working mic? Yes I do. My MacBook Pro has a built-in microphone, that has been calibrated and tested, with successful results.
Are you at least 18 years of age? Unfortunately, no. I'm 14, but I am not like others where I ban or kick other legitimately skilled players because they're beating me, or in other cases, dominating me.

Would it have killed you to say Hi? http://www.darklygaming.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/29-Hey-I-m-New-Here!

I don't believe I've ever traded with you.

You don't need to be an Administrator to get those "hackers" removed, even we have to follow a simple process. http://www.darklygaming.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/76-Scammer-Reports-and-Ban-Requests If you go here, and you have evidence to back up your claims, make a Ban Request, the administrators will look into it and make a decision. You'll also have to understand you'll have to stop playing/trading when things come up that require your attention. Putting the server and community's well-being first.

Good luck on your application.

TD Admin
@ Avataro - we prefer to leave it to TD members/admins to put their input into these matters. For instance, we don't care if someone's app is too "bunched" up lol. We are looking more at the merits of the players, based on the views of our current members/admins. While community input (from non-members) is always valued (for the most part lol), it is better appreciated for issues related to say, the server or forums, but not when it comes to people applying for admin or membership.

@ Silent3years - I would say no to giving you admin based on your age. Again, not saying being over 18 means you are mature and responsible, and not saying those under 18 are irresponsible. We do have plenty of applicants though, who like you, are mature and prepared to be a good admin for our servers but also meet all of our requirements.

This isn't to discourage you from playing or to belittle you. I would suggest you keep playing here and establish your presence here in the community by staying active on these forums and on our servers.

Any other member input would be appreciated.

Good luck, and whatever the result, have fun playing on our servers (and we always can use another pair of eyes helping our current admins finger [haha] scammers/hackers)

@jakksilves I didn't know about the introduction forum thread. Thank you for linking it, though. I will say hi there, as well.

You haven't traded with me. Do you play on the Chicago #1 server, because I play on that one the most of all.

Thank you for helping me with my Steam ID. I never knew that you admins wanted the number ID. Thank you.

@TurboTaco I understand about the age, yet I've heard of a few individuals who have gotten to be an admin, yet are not 18. I do not know if this is true, but I believe the age shouldn't deny an application for an admin, but how the person presents themselves toward being an admin. Then again, it's just me.

Thank you, and I hope the time you've spent here, and is going to spend here is fun as well.

I am unaware of any admins who are under 18, at least for our CSS servers.

I may be wrong on TF2, but I dont think so...someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Again, we don't solely base age as a determinant as to who gets admin or not, just one of the main factors we use when deciding.

We have plenty of 18+ members who are just as considerate and well-written as you are when it comes to being 'presentable' for admin application; those ppl will probably be considered before someone under 18 is. Just how it is here with regards to admin.

Tim/The Guy That Dies a Lot has just been accepted as an Admin for TF2 and he is only around 16 I think. :P

I just got back from eating and was informed this but yes I'm only 16 but was vouched for by many people (was told that might become admin not yet though i do believe), i think that age only matters a little bit depends on maturity level. Someone could be 35 and act like they should be in middle school or someone could be 15 and act like they have a college degree. If someone has the passion to help a server and nows how to behave i don't think age should be an instant rejection. I mean it is common for younger people to not be mature but give Aaron a chance at least, maybe visit him in game under a different name to see how he acts or someone could vouch for him. Sorry if i upset anyone or made anyone mad just that i don't think age should be the sole reason you should reject him. Sorry again since you only want admins or TD's member thoughts just wanted to make sure he isn't rejected silly on the age part.

A lot of players in Team Fortress 2 are babies.

While the factor is well used throughout, I'm unsure if you use it with TF2 as well, but there's over 2/3rds of the community who are younger than 18. In my experience, I've never seen a TF2 Administrator that's below 18.

You came back from eating? Where's mine, are you going to let me starve?

Just like my comment, maybe letting the staff decide to determine if they want to do a trial run and see if an exception can be made, if any. I'd really can't be for or against as again, I've never met you, and not many other people have. (Comments about the Age requirement do not count.) A good way to get an idea of your character would be to be active on the forums and interact with the members (regardless of how much they abuse you.) so they can see what kind of personality you have. That may help your case.
