trouble shoot this

Okay, so I changed the graphic settings for cs;S to reduce lag. Now CS:S won't start; more like it freezes at the main menue before it brings up any of the commands like "servers" or mainly &quotptions".

I've tried uninstall/reinstall. That did nothing; I still have the same problem. I also tried windwos restore or a system restore; again that didn't help.

I don't know what to do, please help!

try logging into someone elses account and running CS. it sounds like some files were changed whne you edited your settings, and something dosnt agree with your computer. Trying a new account might force your comp to edit the wonky files. it sounds retarded but i've fixed problems like this before by doing it.

Beyond that, the i think you will have to find the file you edited and delete it / fix it.

Finally, if you end up uninstalling again, after doing so, Go find and Delete the Cstrike folder, i beleive some files are kept there even after uninstalling the game. the NEXT time you install should be totally fresh

Open steam
In games windows, rightclick css, click properties
Now click verify steam files, n let it do its thing

Also, what gfx properties did you change, in css or in windows for yourcard? If for yourcard, try reinstalling your gfx driver as something may have become corrupt.

when i say graphics settings, i mean the in game resolution. i put it on the lowest setting wich is causing it to freeze after it starts. I verified my steam files but i'm still having the same problem.

I'm going to try to adjust my windows resolution and see if that doesn anything. If not i'm going to reinstall after deleting all the files

i fixed it! O_O

i changed my windows resolution to more closely match the resolution i picked for CS:S. Works fine now.
