Trace route CSGO server

Hey guys. I've had an abnormally high ping on the CSGO server for a couple weeks now and would like to ask some of you guys to run a trace route to the server (208.68.90.171). Especially if you live in the Niagara region and/or have Bell DSL. Please include location and ISP. I'm tring to get more info so I can relay it to the Bell guy I'm talking to on the BBR forums.

I ran a trace route a couple days ago and it showed me that I'm getting routed to Chicago then New York and then to the server. 13 hops in total. Today I ran one and it was in 10 hops. Makes no sense. Big time routing fail. I ran a trace route to cbc.ca and it was 5 hops in less then 11ms. There server IP location is Ottawa. Below is the trace route I did 2 days ago.

Tracing route to 208.68.90.171 over a maximum of 30 hops

Like serious, WTF? I live in St. Catharines. I did other trace routes to Toronto and other Canadian web sites and servers and I get there in less then 8 hops with max ping of 20ms. If this is how Bell does their routing, I may just spend the $50 a month for Cogeco. This a joke.

Thanks for your time.

Oh my goodness, thanks for speaking up about this Tytanium! I've been complaining about this for a while now.

SEE GUYS, I TOLD YOU!

It does seem like the problem is with Bell, though, and not the server.

I'm looking at their plans and they all seem to have rate limits between 7PM and 12AM...

TekSavvy's High Speed DSL 25 looks like a good deal, though. Or it's at least a better deal compared to what I have now.

Yeah, it totally sucks. I've been with them for two years and they didn't have that peak rate until just a couple months ago.

Whatever you choose, go with cable. DSL is just terrible.

TekSavvy DSL15 (FUCKING LOVE THEM!) out of Oakville, Ontario:
trace_route_TD.png

- 300GB/month
- 2am-6am FREE (doesn't count towards bandwidth)
- Zero throttling, ever
- Haven't ever gone down, once
- $69.xx/month (tax-in). This price includes copper phone-line (required for DSL). Internet alone would be $32.99/month not including a $9/month dry-loop free (required, if you don't have an active copper-phoneline) and taxes.

Few things to note and prepare for, should you follow through:

- $99 installation cost (could be more, in some weird-ass cases)
- When you phone in, they'll check your postal code to make sure your area has good enough fiber (I'm lucky, my area was re-done with top-grade shit 3 years ago)
- You must buy a modem (I found a good one on kijiji for $35); just google teksavvy modem models
- I know it sounds like a bitch, but man is it worth it.

EDIT: BEFORE you want to switch, call and find out when they can do it. It's usually at least a week or two before they can even come out.

Okay, good to know. If I do switch over, it probably won't be right away. I'm broke at the moment :worried:

what is your speed buckshot?

Different country for me but I pay 55 a month for 15mb no data limits
I get 15mbps down, and 1 mbps up. Real-world: I cap out at about 2.0MB/s, but I've seen 3-3.5 sometimes, it's weird (good modem? Teksavvy not caring? I dunno...). It suits me well because the speed is always the speed, it doesn't slow down unless server-side (whether it be torrent etc.) is shit.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good conversation going on here. I really need people from the Niagara region to run some trace routes. ANYONE?!!??! :D

Hey Cold. You're getting the same shit as I am. It's definitely a Bell issue. Doesn't make any sense. If they think this is the best way to run their network efficiently. LOL! Fail. I ain't sticking around.

I'll give the bell guy I'm talking to, your trace route, so he can see that it's not only me. Thanks a bunch.

Need more Bell DSL trace routes and people from Niagara please!
