If you look at the headline news today you know what this is about. Long story short, I'm getting sick of gun violence just like every other non-thug-wannabe in the city. Guns are easily accessible so basically anyone who deals drugs walks around with a 9 tucked in their belt and it leads to disagreements that end in people shooting each other because it's easier to kill and run than deal with the fucking problem like a man.

Is it just me or does it really seem like almost all random acts of senseless violence are the result of triggers being pulled? What happened to the good old days when you'd need to roll ten deep to scrap because everyone used their fists and a brawl became like a forge where kids became men? Now the men have guns and become more like kids every time they pull them out.

despite the title being slightly ridiculous (see: Chicago, El Paso, San Diego, etc... we're not even close), it's true that there's been an uptick, but I mean, there's always violence in urban areas like here and Winnipeg and Halifax, it's just recently that the weapon of choice has been guns. My theory is a lot of them are being imported from the U.S., because they most certainly are not easily accessible in this country, even with the Tories removing the long-gun registry and attempting to remove all guns from being registered federally..

We must be wary though. There's a huge difference between reading sensational headlines that'll always have gun violence/homicides as the lead story (especially in Scarborough. Nothing like gun violence and black people to stir some shit up), and the actual statistics. I just don't see it up here.

You can see that the total homicides this year are about a 1/4 of them since 2008. There's going to be a slight increase, but nothing outrageous. To me, it's just part of living in an urban area. There's nothing you can really do about it, there's been talk of a bullet ban in the city, which is kind of ridiculous, and wouldn't help anyway. If you really want to kill someone, you'll figure out how to do it.

the problem i see is that these mother fuckers don't fucking go out and practice their shooting. 20 wounded, 2 dead, and none of them was the actual target? Fuck is that.

Or that Eaton's shooting, faggot meant to axe two mother fuckers but only managed to kill one and only wound the other, and hit like 7 bystanders in the process.

back in russia we had these places called "Tir", little shacks in parks or carnival areas with moving targets and shit. You shot using pnumatic guns at 1 penny a bullets, little lead ones.

fun as shit, my dad used to always buy a handful when we would go to the park and teach me to shoot.

then we used to have water gun fights in the neighbor hood all the time, someone gets you with water you stand still for 30 seconds. Gay i know but for a 3 year old that shit was super fun.

then life got really ghetto up in the country with my grandparents, we used to make our own guns. You would tie an industrial strength rubber band to a stick, then you would bend little U shaped bullets from spare aluminum wire, which for whatever reason was abundent int he region. You used that as an oversized sling shot. Shit stung pretty badly, we usually took out Fanta bottle with that shit.

last year at my wedding in Russia my father-in-law gave me a 12gauge to practice out in the range, surprisingly i was pretty fucking accurate with the thing even though i never fired a live round, shoulder didn't hurt or nothing

so i guess i was trained to shoot without even knowing it

personally i think its the prohibition of drugs and prostitution that causes these kind of things to happen, that bbq while i think probably had good intentions, the place where it was held was a poor choice imo.

those cocksuckers wouldn't be able to afford/need a gun if it made more sense just to take a minimum wage job at a coffee shop or whatever
