The War Z (Zombie Survival MMO)

yup, that settles it, Im getting a refund.

you don't make people pay for a game and then prevent them from playing.

I can understand have the pay to respawn instantly or wait 4 hours if the game was free to play...but preventing me from playing a game I paid for...fuck you, go die in a fucking fire.

I think you're acting prematurely considering you havent even tried playing for that long let alone getting used to the game and mechanics.

Initially, I can see how a 4hr respawn timer will hurt brand new players, but realistically this game is all about risk vs. reward.

You can play safe and stay in lower-pop servers to scavenge and amass a cache of weapons, food, supplies, n meds. There is ALWAYS a risk for being killed by zombies and humans, but if you play SMARTLY and move from cover to cover, avoid large cities/towns, you can easily make it from a safe zone, scavenge til full, then return to safe zone.

You can opt to be a badass and risk going into a large/full pop server and go in with nothing but a flashlight and still come out with a large backpack full of gear. It's just less likely.

I havent experienced the 4hr respawn yet, but I probably wont ask for a refund on the game because of it. The game is pretty fuckin fun, and the devs are tweaking always trying to find a balance for their own support and resources while making the game balanced and playable and updated.

In the end really, its not WarZ devs that prohibits you from playing...it was the way you played your game, the game itself, and some old fashioned luck (or lack thereof).

when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter that "you should play it this way to avoid this", or "play in low pop servers"...what that tells me is its a very poorly designed game.

first off, I paid for it, I should be able to play it, and play it WHENEVER, and HOWEVER I want.

"its not WarZ devs that prohibits you from playing...it was the way you played your game"

Really? did you just say that? REALLY?

in fact it IS the warZ devs that are preventing me from playing, they put the mechanic into the game. It has to be the most counter intuitive thing I have ever seen. As a developer you WANT people playing your game, and you don't want to have any mechanics in there that would prevent them from doing so. The addition of this boggles my mind, but then when you think about it, their tech director made this game:

he's not known for making the best decisions.

Im not saying to not enjoy yourselves, but the logical person in me can not allow myself to play this game. But you suckers have fun.

The game is clearly unfinished (you can not deny that) and should still be in beta, however they are trying to milk the game in its current state (if it has a future state) from my point of view.

As for the in game currency, I don't like it so therefor I will not buy it. If you have money to waste go for it.

It is beta, isn't it?

Not according to steam (usually has "beta" next to it when its downloaded). Therefor one can only assume that it is "complete." And if it is still in "beta" then why are they charging money for a game that could possibly have many problems (it obviously does) with it and inadvertently lose your real money. The point of a beta is to get the game to a playable state.

Game only came out of alpha officially on December 3 or 4, if I'm not mistaken. Either way, it's half baked. But seems fun judging by TD member's reactions.

Nope: apparently it is final release.

Also, Valve has no business shitting on War Z for being "incomplete". *cough*cs:go*cough*

Again, i find the arguments raised by those of you who have barely played the game for a week interesting.

The mechanic of a respawn timer of 60 min was in place from the beginning. Now its 4hrs, its lame but in no means permanent. I would not be surprised to find the devs change that timer depending on the number of complaints n suggestion on their forums.

Microtransactions were also always in place and intended from day 1. The microtransaction system up until now, and still pretty much, is NOT revolving around a 'pay2win' model. The Game Credits (GC) that players "buy" for Real $ cannot buy weapons and gear that makes them have a game-breaking advantage, in fact mos of the decent shit needs to be bought with in-game "dollars" not to be confused with real money. In game dollars are random accumulated drops from zombies. Now that players can spend 'real money' aka GC to spawn faster, well that is no guarantee of success or an unbalanced advantage because again, they can just as quickly die. What these types of players do is help pay for WarZ devs to add and update with a consistent stream of revenue. Are they dumb? Yeah but their money, their choice. Again, items or spawns bought with real mone doesnt make the player invincible to those who 'play for free'

The game was developed entirely on by independent devs initially. The features that were misrepresented on steam are intended to be added or implemented and was/is based solely on the success of preorders for the game. Those who preordered back in september helped the devs fund their furher development which they have been doing quite regularly and responsively to the community.

Some consider this a scam, but it was more a fault on steam/valve/warz for not clarifying thr game is in BETA which it still is meanin it has bugs, has updates and changes, and is by no means a finished and static product at this time.

As to saying the devs inplementing this mechanic of respawn prevents you from playing when you want and how you want, well sure. Its a matter of your perspective on it. To me, the game was designed as a zombie survival horror mmo with future rpg elements to be implemented. In order for a player to be successful and srvive, they have to play smart. I had no problems wih the oroginal 60min respawn considering 5 characters can be made and played when one dies. With 4hrs, i may have to change how i play but it probably wont ruin my overall experience with the game.

And a fallacy of your point, 'i bought it so i should play itthe way i want whenever i want' is that most games/mmos have a ToS that says the devs have full right to dictate the rules n regulations of the game. Just cuz u buy it doesnt mean ur allowed to get hacks and play with hacks or 3rd party mods. It doesn mean that when they are updating the game n severs r down that you are entitled to be playin right then and there. If this were the case all game publishers would be outta business from being sued or from $0 revenue because of all their refunds.

Either way, feel like ur gaming rights were infringed n violated or feel like you were scammed or shammed. To the rest of us who have given WarZ a chance and gotten used to the game now, i can say we are all relatively happy. I say, Too bad ur gonna miss out on fun times with some TD memebers on mumble :/

I love this game, it tickles my funny bone that such a troll game is getting such controversy...

FYI, you can always delete a character and recreate a character? The 4 hour limitation is only if you care to keep your characters.

Besides you won't be able to play this game without rage quitting, its practically built into the game mechanics.

This must be what it's like to game in Russia. Cheap game, shitty presentation, tons of flatchlight newbs = good times for the TD boys.

Lol

In the end ppl will see what they want to.

Those who played the game and enjoy it tend to disregard other opinions n reviews that r negative because they are enjoying the game

Those new to WarZ or contemplating buyin it based on reviews n opinions may be dissuaded by the negative press surrounding it and may just be unwilling to give it a chance or to play long enough to decide if they like it or not themselves

I think I probably should have clarified more. It all applies to when the game is in a functioning state.

by no means did I intend that you should get hacks and play. I'm a working man, I don't have the gaming time I used to. Now if I want to make a character in this game and play it, and I die(accidentally, like falling of a cliff or building or some shit). Now I can't respawn for 4 hours...Im gonna turn that shit off and most likely uninstall that shit.

Edit: let me put a scenario before you.

if you were playing CS, and died, and the game said, "you must wait 4 hours to respawn"...what would you do?

It's not exactly like that.

If you really were concerned about not being able to run bush running simulator 2012, you could maintain 4 quality characters, and remove/restore your 5th over and over again, without waiting for the 4 hour timer.

but what if I want 1 character? what if I wanted to make Leroy the donkey rapist and have him die over and over again? WHAT THEN LEROY!!!!!?!?!?!

DatGuy as jeroy said, u arent limited to ONE character. You have up to 5. If your one dude dies and is on 4 hr respawn, why not login/create a new character? I myself have limited gaming time now too. Barely play an hour or so during weekdays now if i am lucky. From pure warz experience, u can easily kill one hour of time without knowin on just one character by running from one spot to another not takin into account stopping to pick shit up/hide/stalk.

As leroy suggested, u can maintain 4 characters you really want to keep (for their exp and stats and alightnment (bandit/hero)) while having a fodder 5th character you can always delete once dead to recreate a new 5th toon to play again immediately.

My point is, u got the game and played for less than a days worth of time. You died a few times already and now u have given up on it completely because of a mechanic you can easily loophole. Why not try it when ur 5 characters are made and accepted by 47 into the clan then roll with some of us? Most of us have a decent stash and know our way around. We can help you, gear you up, show u some sweet spots and give tips. The game and enjoyment u derive from it is extremely dependent upon the people you play with. Roll solo? Some fun may ensue, more likely u rage quit after getting ganked multiple times. Play with 3 or more TD guys? Have fun and amazing gunfights and setup awesome ambushes on unsuspecting noobs and groups then loot em, share the spoils, then circle jerk on the dead bodies u just created
