With the new patch some players may experience this glitch. When trying to launch TF2 a window pops up saying "Validating TF2 files" and it just hangs at 100%. Unistalling and Re-installing has been confirmed to work for some people but not all (not to mention it could take an hour to re-download TF2). If you have this problem, follow these steps:
1) Run Steam and select TF2 in "my games".
2) Right click on TF2 and click properties
3) Under the local files tab select "Backup game files". (Note the directory where you backup the game to).
4) When the backup is completed, go back to the local files tab and select "delete local game content".
5) Quit Steam
6) Open the backup directory and run the backup file.
7) Steam will then update TF2 and you are good to go.
These steps worked for me while a simple uninstall/re-install did not.
