Ok so this swine flu thing is getting to be a big deal, and to be honest it's in the back of my mind. There are several cases reported worldwide, of course the bulk of cases and deaths have been in Mexico. So why didn't any North Americans die of this flu if they had it, the general odds would dictate that if it was so bad there would have been some deaths elsewhere. So far they reported 1600 cases in Mexico and alleged 160 deaths, that's about 1/10 odds of dying from it. Of course we have to factor in other conditions such as available treatment, living conditions etc. Even so the other cases reported around the world have been reported as "mild".
My theory is people of European or Asian descent may have already been exposed to this virus at some point in history, and have a better immunity to it than people in other places around the world. I may be wrong of course. Something to think about though.
