|Suggestion| MM Rank + Spycrab Rooms + Heavy Boxing for Premium.

A friend of mine gave me the idea of this.
This would be like applying for staff position, but instead for MM purposes only, so they won't have to deal with too much work. Also, what happened with Wrath? I don't see him around anymore.. :c

Spycrab Rooms:

We can attach/make spycrab rooms into all of the Darkly server maps, so that they don't get interrupted by anybody. If not, then have a staff member be able to create a box where the spycrabs can crab in peace. This should be similar to the TF2-Trader plugin.

Heavy Boxing:

Premium players can heavy box safely (Not be disrupted by anybody else) I hope this can work with normal duels as well.

+1 I agree with all of this. But maybe you should find plug-ins for these things before suggesting it on the forums?


EDIT: Also, perhaps MM shouldn't require a 6 month wait after applying, and only 3 months? And maybe if the person has applied for staff, they can still apply for MM? Just suggestions.

No. As soon as we endorse someone as a middleman, we're on the hook if something goes wrong. If I trust them enough for that, then they should already be a staff member I know well. Some sort of plugin that helps facilitate middlemanning by players could work, but it'd need to be well though of to significantly deter any misuse, and would need to weight players evenly. We nor any TF2 staff should be giving anybody any sort of special treatment.

I'm all for rooms built into the maps for public use.

Heavy boxing:

Already have a plugin in development for that. Alternative ideas are welcome (as ideas).

I see what you mean about the middleman thing.

About heavy boxing though, maybe if we can get CMP to install a spycrab room, he could also make a heavy boxing room? Or perhaps if two heavies are already in the boxing ring it could put up a wall. I've seen other servers do it well, I think we could pull it off. I don't perfectly undesrtand what you said though, are ideas for a heavy boxing plugin welcome, or just plugins in general?

If we're actually gonna make the plugin, I have some ideas for the plug-in:
~A bot receives and holds the items (Either the bot trades the spycrabbers, or the spycrabbers trade the bot) before the spycrab begins.
~We can have the spycrab rooms set to count the # of spycrabs a player has done, as well as possibly have custom rules (both players have to agree to it of course, or we can eliminate all the pain of making that by having a set rule) The bot will also privately chat the spycrabbers to let them know whats the score.
~The bot will trade the winner/loser of the spycrab (depending on the rules)

That'd indeed be great, I've thought of something similar before, but I don't think there's any way to detect a spycrab taunt versus a regular one. A raffle and/or craftle setup like this one would certainly be feasible though. Another plugin to make. Waitin' for summer...

I hate to be the downer here, but I won't be adding spycrab rooms to my map.

It is not worth my time and effort. It isn't as simple at just making a closed off room. I have to make a room that people can access without admin assistance. I have to make a way for people to block other people from accessing said rooms while they spycrab, while at the same time preventing them from blocking other people from using it.

I've already done this and it didn't work. The timings were set correctly, but because of the shaky nature of the mapping and my lack of time, I wasn't able to figure out why it wouldn't work. I finally just decided to scrap them.

If someone else wants to take a crack at it, they can message me and I'll send them the file, but the fact is, it is not worth it in my opinion. I can't help but feel like this is more of a request for convenience than an actual necessity for the good of the server.

TL;DR:
It's not worth the time and it isn't needed.
