i turned off auto restart after a crash, my blue screen says
STOP: 0x000000ED (0xFFFFFA8004353CD0, 0xFFFFFFFF0000185, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

Ya, manufacturers will never give you a disk.. you're supposed to create repair disks when you first get your laptop. No worries.

Any windows 7 disk will work, regardless of hacked or not. The idea is that you boot from the disk, let it load as if you're going to install windows, but before you click "Install Windows", you'll see "Repair my computer" on the bottom left:

So ideally, this way we can get to the command prompt.

Ok, well.... Stop error codes with "ED" usually refer to an unmountable boot volume = a fucked hard drive.

We can still try to fix this via the disk, or however...

Any reason the HDD might be loose/not connected solidly? Other than that, the HDD might, indeed, be fried...

If under warranty, n no cosmetic damage send it in right away. You'll lose all data, but new HDD will solve it for sure.

What it looks like, to me, is that your hard-drive is working, but intermittently. So even if you and I managed to fix this problem, it would be a temporary fix as your hard-drive would continue to degrade.

It's much better to get a new hard-drive via manufacturer. They also will not charge you because it is, indeed, a hardware fault.

Your hard-drive is usually secured with at least one screw, but it's always a possibility. If it looks like wear n tear, you're ok.

Depends... I don't know how prompt Toshiba's repair service is, but a hard-drive is a good thing to have replaced because it's always on hand, and thus won't have to be ordered in and take more time.

Aww gay, they nailed with you shipping, still?!?!?
Faaaaaaaack. Probably still a lot cheaper than buying a new drive, and finding a way to pirate Windows (I would have mailed you one ;) ) lol

My pleasure, I'm sorry to have not been of more assistance, but I'm glad we figured something out, and Toshiba is helping you.

Take care, mate!
