Each server sided demo is a huge file. We don't have unlimited space.Plus we have to keep deleting X days old demos so we don't run out of space. Too much trouble.
Maybe during tourneys we can record in case a round needs to be reviewed for hack/cheating suspicions.

guys just hit "record blah" in console and play. "blah" can be any name you want, just no spaces. Then you can do what you want with it.

Will recording on your own somehow affect gameplay/fps and what not?

Shouldn't, you have to do it in competitive play so, it must have no effect

Recording doesn't affect you while it's recording. More so once you type "stop" in console. This will stop recording and start compiling the demo, which may the most "effect" on your pc. It's usually rather instant though.

It'll have a little bit of an effect, especially when you start it... if you have a decent machine you shouldn't really notice it though.
