XLD is a multifaceted tool used for transcoding audio files, editing meta data and embedding cover art into the transcoded media.
Main Features:
- FREE (God I love Mac)
- Works with FLAC (main function, actually)
- Can output to a variety of audio including (but not limited to): .OGG, .FLAC, .M4A (Apple Lossless) etc. and even lets you choose the bit depth and sample rate
- Allows you to set the max threads available for transcoding (XLD converts an entire FLAC album in under 1 minute on my machine!)
- Batch edit metadata: Oh yes, edit every track in one window!
There's some more features, I've just outlined the main ones as that's what I initially attained the program for.
Super useful, super fast and free!
*I'm currently using OSX 10.8.2, but XLD works for PowerPC/Intel 10.4.x and up!
