My case.

9800 Gtx

Asus P5N-D Motherboard

500gb HDD.

4gb ram. (At the time it was plenty, shit it still is for me. Can run a 720p movie + game O-o).

I know I was able to run crysis 2 quite well, battlefield 3 on high, so I still consider it a decent gaming rig. Built it couple years back and since im upgrading I was looking to sell. I was thinking about 650~600? Not entirely sure hence why I'm also asking for a price check.

I never get why people just completely get rid of a computer and start again.

It makes more sense to just add better bits to the one you have.

Get a new Mobo and CPU, add some more RAM or just replace the stuff you have. Use the same case, PSU should be fine, Graphics card doesn't seem too bad unless you really need an upgrade. Keep the HDD and that way you can just buy a new one to add on to your storage space.

That's what I would do, but then again if you want a complete new machine then it's up to you.

I'm just saying you would save a few hundred by just using the case and PSU again. :P

Nope psu apparently isnt compatible with i5 or something along those lines. I figured if im getting a new processor, new gpu and I need a new motherboard I might as well just go get a new pc all together.

However I am considering.

and just get new ram. And keep my rig.

Didn't know PSU's couldn't be compatible with other parts :s

Either way it's your computer, your choice.
I was just saying what I would do/plan to do in the future. :P

Although I got a small case as a starter, so I actually do need to upgrade mine. xD

I really want the NZXT Phantom :3

E8400... up to $150

this might as well be a freebie

Asus P5N-D Motherboard

Maybe $100

500gb HDD.

$50

4gb ram. (At the time it was plenty, shit it still is for me. Can run a 720p movie + game O-o).

$50 maybe

So in total that rig's only worth $350, not including the value of the case and PSU, which isn't really adding a whole lot. You might as well keep the case and just sell the components off individually to get the most money for each.

I'm not sure if you realize but your current mobo won't be compatible with any newer CPU like the i5.

E8400... up to $150
As usual, you're spot on Salvador, except for the above... but I guess it depends on what "up to $150" means LOL
Considering an i3 2100 (new $120 @ newegg.ca) outperforms the E8400 even oc'd to 4ghz, I wouldn't go over $80 for a used E8400.

Overall, might as well keep the PC for a backup (read as websurfer for looking BSOD codes when you OC the new one) :)

Yeah Ill probably just buy a new gpu processor and mother board which lands at about 650 and just sell off my identical parts. Curious if my power supply can handle these new parts. Not sure if i plan on OC.

Turn it into a storage/media player for your big screen TV. Just leave it next to your TV hooked up via HDMI/Component and install a couple TB HDs in there and BAM! You got yourself a great streaming/videoplaying/internet browsing/shitty game playing media player :}

Yea I fucked up on that, E8600s are going for $75 nowadays now that I recall seeing a few being sold. Hmmm. I might just want to buy that chip to replace my E7400 since it has twice the cache size. I'm holding onto my 775 board until I get through school with a setup in mind to give it an epic send-off benching it under ln2 or DICE so I'll need a backup chip to throw into the fray when things start to sizzle
