Scrim Servers

Mommy, Daddy, pwease stop fighting. :(

I appreciate the work that Leroy put into it and really did like that admin menu, so much simpler than typing in commands and stuff. But I also appreciate that we got the tick rate fixed and the door issue fixed and all that. You're both my homies, hug it out bitch.

The only hugging between me and leroy will be when I man huge him from behind as I fuck him in the ass.

Are you fucking shitting me? The scrim server was 100% operational, with a working sourceTV box so others could remote in and view it. TESTED. (thanks BJ, narf).

I had auron, MR's help for fine tuning the little things, and I customized and TESTED the custom menu item so we didn't have to give out rcon. I set up all the menu items in our web admin tool, so that general admin could fire up the scrim server (aurons request) so that BHA wouldn't have to be around to do it.

The complaints were the door fix, and regarding the tick rate, both from you. Nobody else really cared about that, as we're not good enough to detect the difference between 0.0001 and 0.0002 response time. Remember it wasn't me that blew it all out in the first place.

Having the scrim server(s) down for the past 5 days has been way beyond my control, trust me, if I could have done it differently, I would have.

That's a lovely story.

Now that it is no longer beyond your control, how about fixing the IP tables, and add the two scrim servers to your reboot script so they start up every day with the rest of the servers when you have some time?

Thanks chum.

P.S nobody complained publicly about the reg, but every time i was scrimming, myself and others complained in game about it.
Nobody is discrediting your work, and/or your attempts to make things easier for the community.
So with all due respect to the effort you put in your tourney server, the two new scrim servers were running a lot better when we tried them yesterday than the tourney did for whatever reason it maybe.

So we all understand you are kind of upset about what happened to the tourney server, but the fact of the matter is, all this grieving and arguing and pointing fingers is not going to bring it back, nor is it going to help the current situation. So let's stop living in the past, and let's move forward united, as a community.

Group kiss/hug!

Well honestly, I have to attend to a server fire this evening, meaning, one of my side project go live events is totally not working to plan, and people are running around with their heads cut off. If it doesn't go tonight, it will cost them to the tune of $200,000. I talked to prop last night, he sent me the ports, but I was attending another issue regarding stress freaks, who have the worst level of project planning.

All my side contracts and full time work is why I push so hard for any level of planning here. Design (talk about), implementation (make go), testing (test tha shiz), rollout (open to pubbie). There is a definite correlation between projects that have good planning and their success. TD is more than just a project, but it wouldn't hurt to use some best practices when running it. Especially if we want this fucker to blow up, then certain mentalities must change.

I'm not pointing fingers, if anything, I'm defending myself against the continual barrage of insults before I cut this shit away. I'm being serious, enough is enough, we should probably be carrying on this conversation in private.

As far as I'm concerned, this conversation shouldn't even be happening. So it stops right here.

On another note, anyone looking to scrim later on? I'll be home from work early so i'll be down for a scrim if enough people are interested.

I'm sorry you think so, however, nothing wrong with the community being aware of the issues.

If you have a problem with me personally, i'll be more than happy to resolve it with you privately. There's nothing to be sorry about.

There is nothing wrong with some transparency. The community believes in us, the community put a lot of trust in us, this is why we are in charge of all the behind the scenes.

And the only issues right now are the blocked ports for the scrim servers.

I don't have any problem with you personally or otherwise; you're my old friend, and have no idea how you could misconstrue that. The reason for the blocked ports of our scrim server is because I was only made aware of the ports to open last night, and have other, more pressing issues to resolve. What one could misconstrue from my emails, is if we had a plan, I could have made the time to ensure that the scrim servers would be fully available, without bringing down our firewall. I'm trying not to be sassy, yet bring in some more planned approaches to our rollouts. I'm serious man, we've grown to the size where we need some planned rollout approaches.

I'm sure this could have unfolded a lot smoother, i'm not gonna deny that. But it is what is. So now we know how to handle a similar case in the future.

Love you all!

Man, you guys are gay. Smooth this, fail that, success this, plans that.

I can appreciate both sides of your oppinions, however one fact that voids all this remains: it's TD. What I mean by that, is, No matter how long you take to set up a scrim server, or configure it, or setup proper admin etc etc, we really don't care.

I'm sure every single guy who scrims every single night doesn't care if it's laggy for a bit (and he knows SOMEONE is working on it), or he can't get admin in it or whatever the case may be.

Do you guys have ANY idea how fuckin awesome it is to be able to make a new thread and ask "Hey guys, I was thinking, wouldn't a new scrim server be fuckin wicked?" or "Hey guys, let's run a SECOND css server?" - and butt-fuck-me-now there she is, ready to be played on??? And let alone on the NUMBER ONE server in all of Canada?

Man... you all underestimate the level of fucking awe we share here.

I'm showing some love for you all, and I'm sure everyone else is, even if they're not sayin it.

Just scrim'd on the server and thanks for all the work you guys put in. It played out flawlessly, ping was kick ass (even for wireless) as well as reg.
