RIP Paul Walker

Died in a fiery car crash yesterday :( As a gearhead, I'm seriously gutted by this, I mean he was a major part of the F&F franchise. I hardly even remember his character name, it was just Paul Walker & Vin Diesel to everyone. Sucks all the more because dude was also a huge gearhead, apparently he was a passenger when the crash happened but the car was so mangled it would be impossible to tell, took a tree right to the passenger side

SJ posted this in the chatbox last night. :rip:
And I think they were working on the next FF from what I gathered from a Tyrese interview a few months ago on sat radio. I wonder how rhe sequel continues without him. Do they replace him with someone else or he dies/disappeared in the next one. :feelscry:

If they do carry on with the next one, I have a feeling most of the script will have to be re-written, if not all of it, if they decide to bump off his character.
I don't think they could find anyone who would play the same role just as well, but you never know?

Apparently the latest Fast and Furious was already in post-production, which means all the scenes were done being filmed and they were working on the cinematography and all that. As for future movies, they'll probably make up a story about him giving up the racing lifestyle and moving away or something like that.

I don't get it. Thousands of people die each day so we shouldn't bother remembering any of them because it would be too much?
That's not what I'm saying, I'm just saying I don't like how one person is given rememberance and attention while another is never even heard of. He's an actor, granted, and thus it made news. However there's tons of people dying every few minutes and no one gives a shit.

To me, it's akin to a man and woman announcing their love - no one cares. But if it's a lesbian couple, it's front-page news. People are equal, and I think people need to start acting as such.

Nonetheless, sorry about the loss of someone you've looked up to, it's a terrible way to go and he was far too young.

It's pretty cynical to say nobody cares. On the same day that Paul Walker died, four kids in NB also died in a car crash and their community was devastated by it. A TPS constable was also hit in a car accident that day, died today, and his family must be gutted over it. I get that you're upset people marginalize the deaths of other people caught up in tragic circumstances, but isn't saying "meh" for one particular death just perpetuating the same sort of marginalization?

I feel like we gotta fight the urge to cave in to cynicism, because it makes us commoditize individual humans and question their worth. No one man is more important than any other, public figure or not, but if remembering one person for their virtues can become a stepping stone for recognizing the value in others then it's worth a shot.

A novel vision, but ain't gonna happen. I come off as a cynic, but I'm just a realist. Example:

makes us commoditize individual humans and question their worth.
According to the US Government, a person is worth only $100,000, as the family of a US soldier who has died abroad on duty will receive that much. It's just how it is, no love, no hate.

And realistically, yes, I don't care. I didn't know any of them. Sorry it happened? Sure. But caring is a strong word...

I see where you're coming from. Nothin wrong with being realistic, all I'm saying is we shouldn't let moments of apathy erode our overall good will towards other people.
