You grew up in Canada, a nation built on immigration and multiculturalism.

Its taken me years to come to terms with other races. When you are born and raised in a homogenous society where people openly look down upon those that are different, its hard not to accept that as a "natural" fact.

I was brought up to respect everyone as equal no matter what race. as i have grown older i have experienced different cultures and peoples. i am not a racist or think of myself as better than anyone else but from what i have seen in my life i can say i dislike some peoples and really dislike some others. I am an equal opportunity mutha fucker.. everyone gets the chance to make a good impression. if they don't respect others enough to make that impression a good one then to hell with them. i hate people who stereotype and say " oh he's racist cause he's white or he comes from there " alot of people fit their stereotype because of the way they behave. it's just the way things are. if one don't want to fall into the stereotype then they should be proud enough of themselves to make a proper impression and respect the people they come in contact with. and if respect is obviously not due, then fuck em' they get what they deserve.

Yes I was raised to respect everyone. But that wasn't true of all my family. Grandpa wasn't very accepting of other races and great grandpa was even worse. We all were highly embarrassed to go out with him in public growing up because he'd drop racial slurs all over the place. Clint Eastwood in Grand Torino kind of reminds me of him. Other than that he was a good man, was extremely generous and good to his family.

No matter color or creed, someone always has to be the asshole.

The love of one country leads to the hate of another.

Depends on your age & neighborhood, back when I was growing up there wasn't much different races in school, luckily I was friends with them so I was exposed at an early age to accept differences. This continued the rest of my life.

However my 3 older brothers and parents grew up differently, there not racist at all, but I can see them being more wary that not.

Omission, how was it for you?

yeah, no way would my parents be raising me to be a racist.

when i worked security i'd be generally less concerned about removing group of white males from the property, compared to a group of black males, who i always assumed would be outrageously obnoxious, and probably armed.

nothing against first nation people too, but the drunk ones rotting downtown were by far the grimiest of all homeless people i crossed paths with, i've seen many with not one care about getting arrested, beat up, killed, fucking crazy shit, more so then whites, blacks chinese, asians, they all bowed down, but not the natives fuckin a.

Words of wisdom.

Down with nationalism and patriots. We are all human, aren't we?

I was raised as an equal oportunity kinda of person, I dont discriminate. I think racism developed in humans because back in the early years of humanity, it was a good thing to be afraid of the things you dont understand.

Imagine living in the woods only seeing other light skinned humans for your 20 year existence, and all of a sudden a black explorer walks through the woods and you meet for the first time. Do you think you would be afraid if a green person walked up to you one day?
