I sold both of mine...PC all the fucking way!!!! I can't even pick one, they're pretty much both the same just depends which controller you like better. And ps3 has a blue ray player....who cares.

I sold mine as well.
They are worth it if you want to play an exclusive, like Halo 4, but the hardware is so dated and new consoles will be coming out over the next few years it might not justify the cost.
If you can get a good deal on a used console then I would consider it.

I had a ps3 when it first came out but returned it after a week of playing it.

I cant justify constantly updating computer components to run the latest stuff.

Havent seen your name for a while. I never really go into Halo/never owned an xbox so cant really comment on Halo 4.

Im big on racing/sports games hence why im wondering and the only shooters i remember worth playing for consoles were Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Socom II... Halo never really intrigued me.

PS3 is good because the online is free, but shit.

Xbox is good because the online is awesome, but not free.

If you aren't planning on playing online, then go for either...
If you are planning on playing online, but don't want to play, go for PS3.
IF you are planning on playing online, and want to have a good online experience with friends, then go for Xbox.

I know a lot of people that switched from PS3 to Xbox 360 because the online was a better experience.
The PS3 online just isn't made very well.

I'm a huge playstation fan, have been since a young age.

I've owned and enjoyed both systems though, so my opinion isn't a bias one.

Playstaion plusses:
- Controllers come with built in battery packs, smaller / more portable
- Bluray capability
- Free playstation membership
- Internet browsing capabilities (although limited)

Xbox plusses:
- If you do pay for xbox live, it's worth the cost (but not as noticeably as people say)
- Easy to use, family friendly interface
- Used games are everywhere, tonnes of stuff out there for xbox if you want to save a few $$
- Controllers can be used with your PC with little issues

On the other side of the fence;

Xbox negatives;
- Red ring of doom very prominent, dealt with two personally
- Scratches a ring into discs if touched while running (game will never work again unless pro repaired)
- Controllers are huge and bulky, and require either batteries or a battery pack addon
- Seems to be the console that bitching 14 year olds get for christmas, so 90% of the players are fucking lame
- Massive power supply cord that seems isn't really needed

Playstation negatives;
- The online play does suffer occasionally ( but not enough to justify paying for it, xbox live fucks up just as much at a cost!)
- The playstation store is pretty much fucked and very picky about credit cards (aka have to buy ps store cards most of the time)

In my personal experiences playstation has always been the way to go.
Again if you enjoy a certain controller type, or want a specific release then the choice is an easy one.....
Otherwise I'd go PS3 all the way, they have a great track record of using the technology at their disposal to the best level possible, and making a quality system that lasts for a good many years.

I have the PS3 and use it to stream movies, and play some games. Play on PC most of the time though. I want to get a 360 just to play exclusives (gears of war etc)

Either of them worth picking up at this time?

If so, which one?

If you really want the console feel, buy a $40 USB controller. Saves you hundreds of dollars because realistically, especially if you're pro PC, you are going to HATE console.

Not sure if you read the post,

Computer parts arent exactly cheap and the games differ. Many people enjoy both pc/consoles so im confused as to why you think id "HATE!!111" consoles. You hating consoles =/= others hating consoles.

- Red Ring isn't a big threat as it was before.
- Why would you touch the freakin running discs in first place???
- Controllers a little bigger than PS3 BUT feel way more comfortable in hands

I was a big fan of PS1 and PS2 and I had an offer for an X360 back in the day that I couldn't reject. I'm now a X360 fan boy.
One thing to keep in mind, X360 are for multiplayer games in majority.

ps3 seems to have more stuff...browsing, movies, etc. Except you might as well do that on your pc.

xbox 360 is fine if you don't mind paying monthly fees, although certain games communities on live are awful...

Really? Only 90%?

I have to say I don't know much about ps3, but...I know that some games are better than others (the ones that are unique to a console, and not shared), but it really depends what you are into. I love Little Big Planet, but that's just me...gears of war and halo are good too. Choose based on games, IMO, not a big difference.

And...on the subject of gears of war ;)

Pc is usually better, choice, budgets and communities all seem to work better.
