i5 is clearly the winner in all DX11 games. it's also out preforming all i7 920-960 in just about every gaming benchmark I can find and it's cheaper.

Dammit. All this talk got me itching for a new rig as well. A similar setup for me but with Antec TP-650 (on sale for $40 at canadacomputers), using my existing GTX 260 vid. card and 10kRPM velociraptor, the system should cost me about $650ish tax inc.

Too much shite is happening this year, LGA2011 (with QPI not DMI) coming out Q3.
Z68 chipset for LGA1155 in May with SSD caching, and better CPU/GPU over clocking. Oh and no SATA issues like the P67 and H67 chipsets.

And AMD is left holding their cocks. Or will they come out with some purely amazing Chip?

Far as I've seen that's 2012, and it's just a die shrink so no worries. I just wonder wtf they are going to put into the LGA2011 chipset, because it's clear that i7 needs moar power.

If you feel the need to be cutting edge wait for Z68 if nothing else then for better overclocking.

yup yup, switching to efi is so much more efficient... running hackintosh on my "windows hardware" showed me some sick power grains, and thats wicked considering none of it is native :)
