[poll] give cash opinions

First off, this thread is purely for my own interest and I realize it won't change a thing. I just wanna see how the community feels about admins giving out cash. One love.

I see where you're coming from, but I think you should also make another poll about how many time it was given out appropriately. I've had 2nd or 3rd rounds where I've been given 6-7k -- like...shit, the winning team probably doesn't even have that much...

when i have to choose between armor and nades (or anything for that matter), after buying an MP5, and i'm going against fully armored ak/m4 wielding nade spammers, it sucks.

personally i think the whole money thing in CS is one of its biggest flaws.

perhaps in a tournament setting it adds a certain strategy, but not in a fucking 32 player pub, where noobs run rampant and cause you to die half the time with their mistakes and inattentiveness

i say 16000K every round, then no one will complain, ever.

i disagree.. i like the fact that you will sometimes have to save for the next round in order to grab an m4/ak.. even awp in some cases.. It wouldn't be fun for me personally if I could buy whatever I wanted practically every round. Dunno it just doesn't seem like a challenge to me

What Fork said, also points I've made about this topic to the BHA. Actually we have AWP night, we could try Wed cash night 6-12pm, 16K cash for all, as a test run of how it effects team stacking/or lack there of.

16 000 000 is a lot of money to give every round good sir! :)

16K every round is good for pubs that are run by server companies that don't want or have the time to police the server. For us, the people that play here, I think it would cheapen the game, the money system still adds some interesting elements to the game play.

Fork brings up a good point though, and it sparked an idea within my meager brain. Why not have the server give $16K each round for non-peak hours of the day? say from 3am-10am. That way the few people who do play on the server at those times can have more fun?

I have some ideas, but I will post those in the member area.

this isnt sim city

this is a first person shooter

the goal of a first person shooter is to shoot in first person

how you choose to do that should not limited, if you want to deagle people, buy a deagle, if you want to ak people, buy an ak.

others will disagree, but i find the AK superior to the M4, yet the M4 costs more money, where is the logic in that?

it is a faulty mechanic grandfathered into the game, "buying" guns adds no depth to the game what so ever, if anything, it slows the game down because 50% of the people who visit the server dont know how to buy shit for shat, and will still be in spawn by the time one of the pro's makes it to the objective.

it also rewards people that write extra bind code to help them with their buys, on some level that can almost be called a cheat.

other FPS games either give you a set of weapons, or make you scavenge for them, a much better arrangement in my opinion.

So let me get this straight...you want an FPS where every round everyone is give 2 guns -- best primary, and the best secondary, along with full armor, all the nades, defuse kits, etc.?

Where's the fun in that?

I like the money system. I like how you have to save or play smart to get the gun(s) you want. In regards to your "should I buy armor or gun", a lot of players in scrims opt for the gun and play smart.

It adds depth to the game. As for the reason why the M4 is more expensive than AK, I can offer you a couple of reasons:

1. silencer -- very useful late in the round when there's not many people left or if you're camping a crafty spot
2. as a T, quite often you have to stay with the bomb until it explodes where as CTs may just run away and save, so making the T's rebuy an expensive gun for accomplishing the objective doesn't make much sense does it?

and yes, other FPS games gives you guns and make you scavenge for them. so how many people play Halo still? or how many of you do you think will *still* play Halo a couple of years from now? how many of you play Quake? or UnReal Tournament? CS Beta/CS 1.5/CS 1.6/CSS is popular due to its unique design, if you don't like it, go play Halo, nobody is going to hold you back.

EDIT: I often chose TMP over MP5 on most maps as CT, and before people start flaming me for it, maybe you should ask the SiR guys how well I do with it on scrims with them. The only gun that truly doesn't make any sense to me is the UMP, all the other guns I think are pretty fair for what you're paying...

as i previously mentioned, this is not scrim! This is a pub, where alot of times whether you live or die depends on complete morons, who team flash and team nade you. Often time team shooting, which is what i tend to do alot lately because idiots are running out of doors and places they should not be in the first place!

1. bullshit, dont even try to come up with a serious reason to use the silencer, it does nothing, and its not going to save you if you miss, because good players will figure out where you are from bullet holes, and if you kill someone, well, they wont really care how loud your gun was, and their teammates will just get an X on their radar, so there goes your sneaking plan.

2. bullshit again, when you have people who slap/beacon lone CT's who "dont rush to defuse the bomb". Yourself included

ive never played halo in my life,

and i never said counterstrike is bad, i said the buy system is faulty. I hardly doubt people play CS because they get to buy the same guns over and over again. Its a time waster.

Take final fantasy 12 and what they did with the gambit system, they just replaced the repetitive button pressing with automation, yet the end result is the same!

playing counterstrike is fun

standing in spawn buying guns is not

I think giving like 2k extra for the losing team, but it would have to be extremely losing like 4-0.

oh and make shotgun jesus always poor LOL

i would also like to point out, that unlike other shooter games, the guns in Counter Strike are clearly ranked

with weaker guns offering no advantages

so if you are on the losing team constantly losing, you will be constantly out-equipped, particularly if you are on the CT's, because the AK is the best gun in the game.

you play TF2 Narf, every character in TF2 has their strength/weakness balanced out. In CS this is only dependent on how much cash you have in your pocket, and how much cash you have is dependent on your team, and often times your team i shit, so now you're fucked, unless you sacrifice some rounds just to get a good gun, and then you die again, cuz your teammate threw a nade at your feet.

the point of the game is not just to run around and shoot people but to complete objectives whether it be bombing, prevent bombing, defusing if bomb planted, rescue hosties, prevent hosties from getting rescued *inhale* just because others don't play smart doesn't mean you can't, and it doesn't matter whether it's a pub or not, if you can strafe and pick people off (and I know you can), you can kill people, earn money from killing people and depending on how the rest of the round goes, you might be carrying that gun onto the next round *inhale* if people paid attention to their radar as you say they do, then there shouldn't be any multiple stabbing victims on any given round, nor should there be any situations where every other kill you see displayed is from the same person -- but you know what, it happens because -- that's right, you said it! it's a pub! oh and yes i do beacon people because they're not making an effort to to defuse even though there's plenty of time, or they're wasting everyone's time by hiding in the tower on de_cbble with over 1 minute left and they're the last one alive *inhale* i only used Halo as an example, you can replace it with any other FPS that follows a similar setup for equipping players that you used to play. CSS has been around as it has for a reason while other FPS games come and go. Think about it, CSS is a game that was released in 2004/2005 and look how many people still play! look at how many people still play 1.6!!1!!ONEONE! and hey, if you don't like standing in spawn to buy guns, there's always TF2 (an I know you play that) *inhale* *whew*

It's more frustrating in TF2 when you have a lame team. At least in CSS you could still win even if you're alone as long as you have skill (aka HS h4x). And even if you can't win, you might still be able to get a bomb plant off, or getting a couple of kills to earn you and/or your team some extra $$ for the next round

i am not arguing a single point you mentioned in this post..... why are you bringing it up?

i am arguing that what gun you have on you makes a difference in CS.

give me an AK vs a Glock and you can bet money that i will kill more people in any given round.

in a direct firefight between two good players, the one packing a rifle wearing full armor with a flash on his belt has a much better chance at eliminating someone with no armor and an MP5 or UMP.

does trying to figure out how to best use my limited funds add some tactical depth to the game? Sure, it does, i guess.

but not when the enemy is not faced with the same predicament!! At this point it simply becomes a disadvantage i believe is not necessary.

thats the difference here.. not all players have the same skill level in this server its obvious..

you gain some surrious e-respect for glocking someone with an ak.. this is all about e-rep here people... Wurd?

I'll take anyone on with a TMP vs whatever gun they have. =P

Where's the fun in CS if you get max money every round? like you need to have some strategy on how to take down your enemy when you're low on cash. plus there's already a bet system, so don't think cash is a problem o.O ... well beside betting with zero dollar lol...
