So I got my laptop back repaired for the same fucking problem not even a week ago, and now it's back. Anyone have some fixes I could do since if I bring it in, best buy gives me a new laptop because it's the third repair since last repair they found another problem.

Model: Acer Aspire 7741

Is it the adapter or the actual DC jack in the laptop? (I fix computers at futureshop).

If it's the adapter, one of your plugs you're using on the regular is giving out voltage at a variance that's too high for the adapter's rated variance. Voltage variance is not always public information for a piece of electronics, so it's kind of hard to verify. If the plug's fine, and the adapter is still burning out, double-check the amperage and wattage (output only) and compare it to your laptop's requirements (output only). These pieces of information can be found on the 'brick' of the A/C adapter and underneath the battery, respectively.

If the adapter is ok (verify it on another unit), and it's your laptop's DC jack that's fucking up, double-check the two little prongs in the middle of the hole. Typically, they're supposed to be almost touching, so that they grip the pin in the hole of the adapter's tip. Perhaps they're loose from the everyday plug/unplug happening.

That's all I can think of.

**** Of course, I don't recommend you try anything funny (tampering with the prongs, as I suggested as a possible cause of your issue) because you'll be possibly voiding your warranty when you're so close to getting a new one.
Good luck!

Problem solved. I tried with a friends, and it charged, then tried with mine and it worked. Might have been that, or the fact I didn't use the battery since I found the problem. Thanks for the help.
