Never had one but I know they're beastly OCers. Then again people habitually use a lesser board to trump a Maximus bench score so I'm assuming the high price tag is more about the ROG prestige, bells n whistles on the board and the ROG skins for software, which look somewhat... baroque. I agree with 47, even an entry-level board with a newer chipset should still beat on an older socket. Then again, ya never know. 775 gear still fetches a high price, a Core 2 Quad brand new is about the price of a 2600K!

I would rather go for EVGA's Rampage lineup strictly for the high-quality components used (good caps, mosfets etc. specs are out there), and the spacing the board provides between ports - which in my opinion 99.9% of manufacturers overlook. On any board I've seen (except the Rampage line) the pci-e ports are JUST far apart to fit 2+ good cards, but you'll be blocking every fan/heatsink with the next card in line - pretty fuckin dumb if you ask me. The rampage, however, provides that little bit of room which could easily equate to 10+C cooler, if not more, and that affects ambient case temp which affects... you get the point.

But I don't know.. depends on price, components used, features etc. I'm personally leaning to something Ivy Bridge, and with the new digital voltmeter systems being used so you can REALLY tweak the fuck out overclocking every component... so precise, I get goosebumps :D
