The Mars Volta

Hard rock/Metal/Rock with some latin elements.

Been listening to them for a few months.

From El Paso Texas, with the main parts of the bands originally from Puerto Rico. The songs are never the same + they are all phenomenal instrumentalists. If you play drums, guitar, or sing, then I would recommend listening to them; you may learn a thing or two.
