+1, even $40-50 Zalman copper VGA coolers will drop your temp large! And in some card cases (Nvidia I guess, bitches run hot), that shit is priceless...

Did you guys install these after market coolers yourself? So, you just ripped off the cover, and went to town?

man, I should have gotten ncix to do it for me, that way if they fucked it up, they would have to fix it.

Thats the number one reason I ordered the rig pre-assembled, the last time I installed an after market water cooler, it was fucking challenging because the inflexible plastic hoses reef'd on my mobo.

I'm not about to perform the same surgery on my $500/each card. Besides, I have sli? I have no idea how tight these cards will be.

My 6970 runs at 90 C @ full load, the default fan profile doesn't even ramp up the fan past 40% until it passes 90 so these GPU's now a days can take the heat.
I'm going to liquid cool the shit outta my box this weekend tho, probably adding a second card for SnG'z.
also sal, no cooling for the ram? those passive heatsinks aren't doing much with no airflow.

it's only held on by 4 screws, the wiring for the fan and the shitty thermal paste/pads sandwiched between...

Why wouldn't you just run a manual fan profile to keep it cooler? Some people get artifacting starting in the 80s.

see sal's post. the fans are fucking LOUD. 90 degrees is a safe temp for those GPUs I read up on it.
but I ordered my waterblock yesterday so I wont be hearing loud fans much longer.

Thanks bud, I think I missed the boat on this one, I don't really care about noise because I can't hear fuck all when I have my earphones on...

My main concern is heat buildup between the two cards, and not having the correct airflow in my case to dissipate it efficiently, resulting in overheating and the cards underclocking themselves.

If it gets bad or happens a lot, I guess I'll go to town on them.

missed this! I actually reattached the stock fan by its bracket to one of the waterblock support screws so that it's blowing over the VRM, and enough airflow gets between the heatsink fins too. The RAM modules don't actually get that hot to begin with. Either way the card is a non-reference design so there were no options for full-sized water blocks, but I've never had problems OCing it. The Asus DCu cards are voltage unlocked by default anyway, so they're meant for this kind of thing.

By the way, which waterblock did you order?
